Guerlain's Christmas Collection

3 min read

In his book A Moveable Feast (Paris est une fête), Ernest Hemingway overflows with love for the city of Paris. This year, Guerlain is celebrating the festive spirit embodied by those American Bohemians, like Hemingway, who settled in Paris during the artistic whirlwind of the twenties: magical make-up, precious objects, enchanting perfumes, exceptional bottles, and more.

Guerlain's Gold Christmas Collection

This is such a delightfully Art Deco and festive collection, and you can treat yourself to one piece, or all of it! The hero product is the Gold Palette (£59) – stunningly pretty and a perfect gift.

Guerlain Christmas Collection Palette Gold

In a lovely vintage-style lacquered compact with stylised palm leaf motifs inspired by Art Deco style and nestled in a
black and gold case, the palette offers a complete make-up set  – face, eyes, brows and lips –  to create a look that wuld be perfect for spening New Year’s Eve with the Great Gatsby himself – ad no, not the one from TOWIE!

The wet and dry texture lets you intensify the colours if you want to, and apply the shades on their own or layered, for a buildable look, from day to night.

Illuminate your face in two ways in this collection. You might love the Meteorites Gold Pearls (£44), which come in stunning packaging, styled like an antique jewel.  For the first time this year, they come in golden colours (white, yellow, pink and  champagne). This idea is that this unique combination enfolds the complexion like a beautiful piece of jewellery that lights up the face. You just sweep your brush over them, and sweep on.

Or, if you prefer a pressed powder to illuminate, and want a bit more of a bronzed look, you’ll want the Terracotta Gold Light (£44) This collector’s edition gives the promise of a bronzed complexion with an iridescent veil. It’s a sun-kissed highlighter, which comes nestled in a reusable Art Deco jewel case, and leaves a gorgeous glow on skin of any colour.

I love the Gold Light Topcoat (£20.50) which, yes, is a bit of a gimmicky product, but that’s what the festive season is all about, right? Silly products you might not normally buy. Enriched with golden sparkles, this adds a customised finishing touch to any look – you can use it on your brows, your lashes, or even your hair. When applied to the tips of the lashes or the corner of the eye, its magnetic accents illuminate the eye area.

There are two limited festive Rouge G red lipsticks (£37) to choose from. As ever, the packaging is beautiful, and reveals a mirror on opening. For brunettes, choose 822 Glamorous Cherry, to illuminate the complexion, and for blondes, 823 Flaming Red creates an intense effect.
