Aveda launch Pure-Fume Hair Mists

2 min read

I’m not sure how I feel about this latest launch from Aveda – the Pure-Fume Hair Mists. There are three of them, from three different corners of the globe, and all making your hair smell lovely, as well as adding softness and shine.

I just don’t know if I want my hair to smell. I used a new shampoo last week that was quite overpowering. I like the smell of my husband’s freshly washed hair, you know, that clean smell. But I’m not a fan of smelling my own locks!

It’s probably just a quirk of mine – does anyone else feel the same way? If so, then these might not be for you. If not, then  read on!

Aveda call their aromas ‘Pure-Fumes’, according to Guy Vincent, who is Head of Pure-Fume Aroma, because they work with plant-based ingredients – most of them certified organic“.

And yes, Aveda do have some deliciously lovely smelling products. But I’m still not sure. Anyway, the three new Hair Mist scents are Mihana, Marassona, and Alanara.

Aveda Pure-fume Hair Mists

Mihana is inspired by the exotic gardens of Japan, and is a lush, rich, spicy floral with soft woods and bright citrus. It contains jasmine, mandarin and clove amongst other pure flower and plant essences. “Our inspiration for Mihana came from the naturalness of the garden, and the beautiful landscape of Asia,” says Guy Vincent.

Marassona is a vibrant, fresh, clean, citrus aroma, with tropical white flowers, and woody spices. Inspired by the tropical flowers of Brazil, it contains neroli, ylang-ylang, and vetiver. “Marassona embodies the dynamic spirit of Brazil, including the famous carnivals,” remarks Guy. “Brazil has a long history of using spices, flowers and herbs from the Amazon. Because it evokes a sense of heat, we wanted to go with a clean, just-washed feeling.

Finally, Alanara is a rich, effusive aroma with exotic spices, moist rosy florals and precious incense styled woods inspired by the aromas of the Middle East. It features sandalwood, organic rose, oud and olibanum. I think this is the one I would like the best, but I have only had a sniff of Mihana (it’s not my favourite…)”This one was inspired by Dubai,” said Guy. “Dubai is an opulent, sparkling city, with lots of lights. But it began as a fishing village. We wanted to capture the juxtaposition between modern and traditional.”

Each of the Hair Mists is formulated with a nourishing plant oil blend including Certified Organic Sunflower Oil and Kukui Seed Oil. You use it on dry, finished hair, whenever you like! Each comes in a 75ml spray bottle.
