Not being a big designer fan, I think I sort of missed the launch of Marc Jacobs Beauty into the UK. Now I have caught up on it, and wow – I love it.
It’s very sleek, very chic, and not really me, but the products are great. I particularly love the new for Spring 2017, Matte Highliner Gel Crayons. This lovely person wearing them is Marc Jacobs Beauty’s new face, Kaia Gerber. How beautiful is she? Recognise her? Yep, she’s Cindy Crawford’s daughter! Lord, those genes are good!
These new Matte Highliner Gel Crayons (£20) come in all sorts of colours – 12 to be precise, and all of them intense matte shades. There are the usual brown and blue shades, but also bold red, pale pink, and this lovely pale blue, called Deja Blue.
I’m not quite sure how I would wear it, but I love the colour so much. It’s icy perfection.
The Highliners are glitter-free, super-rich in pigment, and a really malleable formula just glides on.
And, according to the brand, there are four different techniques for application.
GLIDE: Glide the Highliner along the lid for an effortless liner look, no worries about precision.
LINE: Line the lid, the waterline, anywhere you want to define
SMUDGE: Working quickly, smudge highliner with a brush for an instant smoky look
LAYER: Apply across the entire lid as a shadow, or as a base to layer.
As well as the Highliner, I was given the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara (£23) to try, and I loved it. Thick lashes, didn’t really smudge much, passed my high-standards mascara test!
The New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick (£25) in Role Play is probably one of the loveliest nude/beige lipsticks I have ever seen – this is not it pictured above. I haven’t tried it, as it’s not my style or shade, but it is a thing of beauty, and it’s £25, which isn’t the most expensive of designer lipsticks.
