MAC launch the Fruity Juicy collection at the end of this month, and if you love bright, bold, tropical print, then this is for you.
I have to say it’s more about the packaging than the products with this one. There are lovely products, as ever, but I don’t see anything obviously new and exciting standing out. Even colourwise, the lipsticks are the usual summer ‘hot’ shades of bright pinks, oranges and corals, and the eye palettes have the usual suspects in them of greens, brights, neutrals and nudes.
That’s not to say I don’t like it. Actually, I love the print. I love the Cosmetic Bag (£25) most of all, actually.
But the makeup is fun. There are two shades of Bronzing Powder (£23) – Refined Golden and Banana Bronze, two shades of MAC Studio Sculpt Bronzer (£23.50) – Delicates and Delphic, and one PearlMatte Face Powder (£24.50) in Oh My, Passion! which is just a gorgeous thing – featuring tan, yellow, pink and bright coral in a tropical leaf pattern. Lipsticks (£16.50) come in shades of nude, coral, fuchsia and violet – namely Calm Heat, Shy Girl, Love At First Bite, and Si, Si, Me! Cremesheen Glass (£18) come in pink, orange, purple and beige, called Cha-Cha-Cha, Shake, Shake, Shake!, La Salsa, and Summer Succulence.
The Eyeshadow Palettes (£25) are great – the outside has more of that print, and inside, they each – there are three of them – hold six shades of shadow. Love In The Glades has all the greens, Fruit A La La is bright pinks, reds, and paler versions, and Oh My Banana is six shades of orange, peach-y brown, deep rose, cranberry and more. All the palettes have a mixture of shadow formulas – satins, frosts, mattes, pearls and more.
Other bits I like are the Prep+Prime Fix (£18) in Coconut, and the lovely brushes – there’s a Dense Face Brush and a Large Face Brush (£28 and £34.50).
The MAC Fruity Juicy Collection is available for a limited time, from all MAC locations, and maccosmetics.co.uk, from April 27. Get it before it goes!
