Chocolate Shades for Easter

3 min read

Afraid of eating waaaaaay too much chocolate this Easter weekend? Fear not, beauty fans – here’s another way to get that chocolate fix – with gorgeous chocolate shades for eyes, lips, and more.

I have to admit that brown is a difficult lip colour for me. I think it reminds me of the 90s too much. And Urban Decay’s Vintage Vice Lipstick in Roach (£15, urbandecay.co.uk and counters) is straight out of the 90s! Part of the vintage collection to celebrate 20 years of the brand, this is an original lippy from the mid 90s, and is a rich, chocolatey, creamy brown.

Clinique have quite a lot of brown lipstick shades in different finishes, Clinique Pop Matte Lip Colour + Primer in Bold Pop is a real 90s berry-brown. It takes me right back. Their Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Cola Pop is a more true brown shade, and the same finish in Rebel Pop is another brown with a nod to the berry.  All of the Clinique Pop lipsticks are £16, clinique.co.uk and counters.

Shades of brown make brilliant smokey eyes. MAC’s single shadow eyeshadows (£13.50, maccosmetics.co.uk and counters) are great – Brown Down in a Veluxe finish is a deep, chocolate brown , which MAC describe as a ‘teddy bear brown’. It’s richly pigmented, and gives a great finish. Cork in a satin finish is a muted golden brown – perfect for using with Brown Down to create a smokey eye.

Illamasqua make brilliant makeup , it’s just a shame the brand isn’t stocked in more places. They have lots of brown Eyeshadow shades to choose from, all at £16.50. Heroine is an ash taupe matte finish, a really light everyday shade. Jules is a perfect warm, milk chocolate shade, again in a matte finish. Wolf is that bit darker; a rich chocolate brown, again in a fantastic matte finish.

Illamasqua also have a brilliant Powder Blush (£22, illamasqua.com and counters) shade called Disobey. it’s a soft biscuit brown and is ideal for contouring.

Clinique’s Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Fuller Fudge (£17.50, clarins.co.uk and counters) not only has a name that makes you salivate, it’s a lovely gorgeous shimmery brown shade that is so simple to apply. And Urban Decay’s Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow in Spacetime (£15.50, Debenhams) is a beautiful deep brown with a gold glitter shimmer. These eyeshadows are brilliant – you have to try them!

Clarins’ Rouge Eclat Satin Finish Age-Defying Lipstick in Chestnut Brown (£20) is a deliciously 90s proper brown lip. And from their new Sunkissed Summer Makeup collection, how about their lovely gold Waterproof Eye Pencil (£17.50)? All the best chocolate has gold leaf, after all!
