Splurge or Steal Foundations

SPLURGE

Name: Shiseido Synchro Skin Glow Luminizing Fluid Foundation

Claims: Shiseido reckon this is a foundation innovation – a proper foundation/skincare hybrid. An intelligent, luminizing foundation that infuses hydration, and synchronizes with skin for a healthy, brilliant glow. It adapts to every skin type and skin tone, working with your skin’s qualituies to reveal hydated skin with a heathy gow.

How does it work: Contains polymers, pigments and powders to cover and illuminate, and Argan Oil and Yuzu SeedExtract to prevent a flaky finish caused by dryness.

Price: £34

Counter date and where to buy: Shiseido counters nationwide,  shiseido.co.uk, from March 20.

Verdict: I LOVE this. The first few times I wore it, I had so many compliments – people actually said i was glowing. It goes on beautifully. The shade I use is Neutral 2, and it comes in nine other shades. It feel lovely, with a serum-like texture, and you don’t need a lot. It is buildable, so you can add if you feel you need more. Hydration-wise, it is a winner. I cannot fault this foundation at all. 10/10.

Shiseido and Bourjois Foundations

STEAL

Name: Bourjois Healthy Mix Anti-Fatigue Foundation

Claims: This is a reformulated version of Bourjois’ best-selling foundation. Apparently one unit in the Healthy Mix range is sold every minute, globally. Impressive! The new version still offers all qualities and fresh fragrance of the range, but now has an improved formula that helps erase the signs of fatigue and brings on the glow!

How does it work:  The new formula contains a mixture of vitamins and a blend of helpful ingredients. It contains a combination of Vitamins, C, E and B5, to help your complexion look healthy and radiant. It contains, coated pigments in the formula, to provide “an undetectable natural finish”.

Price: £9.99

Counter date and where to buy: January 20, Boots and Superdrug

Verdict: There are nine shades in total, three of them new, and I was trying one of those,  50 Rose Ivory. It’s too light for me. I think perhaps in a different shade it would be better. I think, for me, the finish is a little too much, and, a wee bit flat. It felt nice on the skin, and smells really good. The coverage is good, if a wee bit much, but it does last. Am not sure it lasted 16 hours, but is that really essential?! I don’t know if I ever need a foundation to last 16 hours. I like this, but would have to try a different shade.
