Prime Time with Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder launch a revolution in priming this month with their Double Wear 3 Minute Priming Moisture Mask. They also launch The Smoother Universal Perfecting Primer to add to their primer family.

I wrote a feature for the Daily Record all about primers recently- read the article here –  and most makeup artists would agree they are essential for a great base.

But this new mask formula is innovative to say the least. Of course it’s a sheet mask – there’s a sheet mask for pretty much everything now – and they are so easy to use.

Estee Lauder Double Wear 3 Minute Priming Moisture Mask

This one is for all skin types, and aims, Lauder say, “to create a perfectly primed complexion in minutes so makeup glides on evenly and smoothly”.

The mask contains a moisture complex hat’s nourishing and moisturising, so this little three minute ritual will give your skin the boost of hydration that improves the texture, thereby making it smoother for your base to go on to.

Infused with Algae and Cucumber Extract, it also helps calm and soothe skin while providing instant radiance.

I’m not sure about this. You leave it on for three minutes and then gently massage in any remaining primer, then apply makeup. It does seem a wee bit of a faff of a morning, but perhaps for a special occasion – and three minutes isn’t that long.

As for the new The Smoother Universal Perfecting Primer, it’s for all skin types, and is infused with skin-softening apricot essence. It softens, smoothes and helps the skin maintain its moisture balance. You can wear this one alone or under foundation, and is good if your skin is more on the normal to dry spectrum. This is where my skin falls, and I find some primers can be a bit too tightening.
