Fresh Vitamin C Beauty from Clinique and No7

3 min read

There’s a new buzz in the beauty industry right now, powered by Vitamin C. Clinique and Boots No7 have launched Vitamin C products in the last month, so I thought I should take a look at them!

But, the power of Vitamin C in skincare is not really that new. I recall using Philosophy’s products waaaay back, which were heavy on the Vitamin C.

As a skincare ingredient, as Ascorbic Acid, it is used for radiance – giving your skin the boost that a glass of orange juice gives your mind and body of a morning. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) helps to instantly restore radiance, brightness and luminosity while also helping to improve skin’s resilience. It restores luminosity and brightness instantly.

Let’s look at Clinique first. They launched their Fresh Press products around March 10. The system has harnessed the power of Vitamin C at the highest concentration ever, and, because Vitamin C works best when fresh, Clinique have created specialised stay-fresh packaging.

The NEW Clinique Fresh Pressed™ Renewing Powder Cleanser with Pure Vitamin C and Clinique Fresh Pressed™ Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% are the two products.

Clinique Fresh Pressed Vitamin C Collection

The Powder Cleanser is brilliant. You’re buying 28 little packets of pure Vitamin C here. Well, mixed with Kaolin Clay for purifying, and Salicylic Acid, for exfoliating.

You activate the ultra-fine powder in these little packets, with with water, mix it together in your palm, and then cleanse. Simple. You will feel the instant boost, and it’s just a lovely morning shower ritual, if nothing else.

Next, it’s time to boost the skin, by adding the Fresh Pressed™ Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% to your daily moisturiser. This comes in a four pack, with each vial filled with enough for just 7 days, to keep the C fresh. Just press the button to release the pure Vitamin C, shake to mix with the soothing emulsion, and it’s ready to deliver its rejuvenating power. Like a daily supplement, simply mix a couple of  drops with your favourite moisturiser to instantly brighten skin’s look. In just a week, you will see a difference, say Clinique, in tone and texture.

Don’t keep these products for longer than you should, particularly not the booster, once the C has been released.

Next, Boots No7’s version, the No7 Youthful Vitamin C Fresh Radiance Essence, which came out a few days later than the Clinique products.  This contains 5% pure Vitamin C, compared to Clinique’s 10%, so you can see where the price difference comes in.

This essence also contains extracts of Liquorice, Echinacea and Vitamin B, and No7 believe it will hydrate, stimulate cell renewal, smooth and even the skin tone, and give that all-important radiance boost.

Again, the Vitamin C is isolated. The packaging is such that the C is held in the small compartment until you release it into the bottle, shake it up, activating it, and then use it, twice a day, for two weeks.
