YSL's Spring 2017 The Street And I Collection
YSL’s Spring beauty collection is lovely – no surprise there. I do love YSL makeup, especially their collectable palettes. I know my mum still has a few from years ago in her dressing table drawers, as do I.
This year, it’s called The Street and I Collection, which is a wee bit jarring, but let’s go with it. At the heart of it is a brand new product – the Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Duo Stick (£26).
I love a multi-tasker, and this is cute. Inspired by the Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Lip and Cheek, which I love, this is a matte balm, two coours one at each side, which you can use independently or together, to create highlights and lowlights on cheesk, and two-toned lips if you like. I think it works better for cheeks than lips.
It comes in six duo colourways – from Marrakech to Paris (bright coral/intense fuchsia), from Cute to Devilish (gentle coral/warm orange), from Me to You (pale rose/blush pink), from Darling to Hottie (neon pink/raspeberry red), from Prude to Nude (rosy nude/mocha nude), from Mild to Spicy (cherry red/plum-brown).
There are two palettes in this collection – for eyes and face. The Face Palette Collector – I Have A Blush On You (£42.50) is a lovely orange embossed with a brick wall effect.
The Couture Palette Collector – Keep An Eye On Me (£42.50) is, say YSL, a combination of colours encapsulating the shades of the street. There’s a shimering pale pink, a hard city grey, a flash of orange and two more pinks to create that city night sky.
Pencil-wise, there are three- a white Blanc Arty, for creating a wide-open eyed effect, and fuchsia pink and bright orange, which are two-tone, for quirky colour (£20 each).
For lips, Gloss Volupte Lip Glosses (£22) in Acrylic Pink and Orange Granite are bright and beautiful.
Four new colours, inspired by bright, graphic, city colours, join the Rouge Volupte Shine (£26) collection. Rouge Spencer (red), Orange Tournon (orange), Fuchsia Jumpsuit (pink) and Rose Marceau (coral) are all deliciously spring-ready shades!
Last but not least, the brilliant La Laque Couture Nail Polish (£19) in two fabulous shades. I love both of them – Vandal Orange and Asphalt Grey – I cannot choose which once I love more!
