I had a makeover last week at the Laura Mercier counter in Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols. The lovely Michael made me over with the brand’s new Joie De Vivre Collection (Joy of Life).
I’m not overly familiar with Laura Mercier as a brand, particularly of late, but I do know its a great brand with lovely produts, perhaps all a wee bit too safe for me at times.
This new collection however, is right up my street – particularly the lovely vibrant matte lipsticks.
Michael gave me a lovely Laura Mercier base – that is the brands signature – and then used the Joie de Vivre collection products.
And, rather than allowing me to stay in my comfort zone with the red matte in the collection, he gave me pink/berry lips with Happy.
The collection has a new lipstick, Velour Lovers Lip Colour + Metallic Limited Edition (£22) are mattes, with a metallic twist, and they are lovely. I wasn’t a massive fan of the deep pink, Happy, but I do love the red Smile, and the pink Joy. There are new Lip Pencil (£19) shades to choose from too.
The Windflush Colour Powder for Cheeks & Eyes – also Limited Edition (£29) – is a lovely multi-tasker of a product – Michael used it on my cheeks and eyes in this look, and I do love the coral glow.
That’s really all the products in this little collection. Michael did a fab thing with the Tightline Cake Eyeliner (£19.50) – and a flat wet brush – applying it under my lashes inside them to create a dark line – see the picture below for a better idea of what I mean! He used the gorgeous Bleu Marine shade.
It really brightened up my eye – and with a steady hand, I am sure this isn’t too difficult to do.
My mascara was the Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara(£21) and it lifted and curled my lashes.
Overall, it’s a lovely little collection, with enough Spring brightness about it to lift your spirits in the winter!
