Kiss and Tell with Clinique!

3 min read

When Clinique sent over this press release for Valentine’s Day, it made me smile. It reminded me of daft quizzes and ‘what your hand lines say about you’ type features I loved in Jackie, Mandy, and Diana annuals as a kid.

What Your Kiss Says About You, say Clinique. So, lipstick and paper at the ready, and get comparing these five lipstick kisses to your own! (All created with Clinique Pop Lip Colours, of course, available from Clinique and at clinique.co.uk for £16)

Jilly Eddy and Anna Snodgrass, two of only eight certified lipsologists – who knew there was a thing! – in the world, can analyse the characteristics of a kiss print to see what it says about the personality behind it. Here’s what they said about these five.

First up, this pink kiss, created with Clinique Pop Liquid Matte Lip Colour + Primer in Peace Pop –  a deep berry shade that shows edginess and fearlessness when it comes to breaking the rules.

The slight indentation in the centre of the upper lip’s outer edge indicates an excellent negotiator, extremely good at making situations end in a win-win way,” says Jilly Eddy. “The diamond shape perimeter of a whole lip print also says success, competency and pride in whatever she does. Everybody loves a diamond girl!”

Next, it’s this lovely kiss with Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Punch Pop – a bold hot pink that says adventure and risk-taker.

Look closely and you’ll see a lip print within a lip print,” says Jilly. “This has two meanings: first, these lines reveal that she can be difficult to get close to. Others have to prove themselves to her but, once they do, she’s the best friend they ever had.

“Second, she probably has friends she made long ago. She makes what I call ‘keepers’ – people who reciprocate exceptional kindness and friendship forever.”

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Sweet Pop – a candy pink that symbolises a bubbly personality, full of energy, created this lip print.

The slight split in the lower lip print is referred to as a ‘gourmet’ lip split, and indicates a deep enjoyment for food – with a slightly picky palette,” says Anna Snodgrass. “Also in the lower lip there is a white spot that looks a bit like a seed. It means she has put an idea, project or important thought on the back burner that needs some attention. It’s going to make a difference!”

Next up, Clinique Pop Matte Liquid Lip Colour + Primer in Cake Pop – a subtle nude that embodies an understated confidence that’s a force to be reckoned with.

A slight silver light coming through the upper and lower lip indicates a stubborn person personality trait. Once a decision is made, there is no changing,” says Anna.  “Darker lines at the bottom edge of the lower lip can also imply a lot going on in private matters – my advice to her would be to do what she can to delegate and take care of herself first so that she can then take care of others.”

Finally, Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Passion Pop –  a classic red that shows passion and fierce independence.

Full upper and lower lip prints indicate generosity, expression and good listening skills. She is also detail orientated – if someone wants a job carefully and precisely done, she’s the person to do it,” says Anna.Any ‘Mother Nature’ lines on the bottom edge of a lower lip print can also show a playful spirit.”

So, there you go – where do you fall in this? I have analysed my lip print, and I cannot seem to fit into anyone one category – but it was certainly fun trying it. Share your pout print on social media with the hashtag #KissProofPop and tag @cliniqueuk
