Lipstick Chess from Lipstick Queen

2 min read

It must be hard, being just a lipstick brand, and coming up with new and innovative products all the time. Poppy King, whose brand is Lipstick Queen, certainly does that.

But this newly launched collection – Lipstick Chess – is more of a gimmick than an innovative product, I think.

That’s not to say it’s not cute – but I have to admit I am not the biggest chess fan that ever lived!

There are six shades in the collection, all named after a chess piece, and all in cute monochrome packaging, and with a full coverage matte formula. The formula is super-hydrating, and has a suede feel. Enriched with  natural oils, waxes and anti-oxidant vitamin E, they do feel lovely on.

Instructions to play Lipstick Chess:
1. Pick the color to which you are most attracted to
2. Turn upside down to find out which chess piece it is
3. What does this chess piece say about you?

The shade I was sent to try was Rook – which I probably wouldn’t have chosen, as its a deep plum – but if you do pick this one, you are bold, according to Lipstick Chess!

I would have gone straight for the ruby red, which is the Queen, who obviously reigns supreme!

Love the nude shade? It’s the Pawn, loyal to what you love!

Knight is a mocha brown shade, and, if you choose this one you are unpredictable!

The King is a rich berry shade, whoever chooses this one, is, obviously, noble.

Finally the Bishop is a mauve. Chosen this one? Oh, you determined, courageous thing!
