Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder have launched their much-vaunted Victoria Beckham collection and, well, from what I have seen of it, it’s very nice.

It’s hard to comment further because I have only seen images of this collection – samples were sent to selected press, but even after all my years in the business, I didn’t qualify for even one paltry lipstick! Mind you, it’s not a surprise samples were thin on the ground, with the full-on clamour for this collection, and the, quite frankly, rather steep prices.

I WANT TO MAKE WOMEN FEEL EMPOWERED, TO FEEL SEXY AND CONFIDENT. THIS MAKEUP DOES THAT. I LOVE TO MAKE WOMEN FEEL LIKE THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES.

Whether the quality demands this price, I don’t know, because I haven only seen images. The packaging is adorable. Black, sexy and featuring the gorgeous ridges of Lauder packaging from days gone by. Adorable.

It’s a Limited Edition Collection, and Lauder say this: Sweaty-sexy skin. Fiercely lined eyes. Nude lips. Wet finishes, liquid metals, foil shine. Sexy, cool with a bit of rawness and edge. Meant to be worn smudgy with the confidence to be imperfect.

It’s broken down into collections, a la Charlotte Tilbury, and others. In Victoria’s case, it’s New York, LA, Paris, and London. The products include Eyeshadows, Eye Foils, Lipsticks, Lip Gloss, Eye Palettes, Bronzers, Highlighters, etc, etc.

I think I like the Paris look the best – gorgeous Lipstick in Chilean Sunset, a matte orange-red, and a beautiful green Eye Metal – a high shine eyeshadow – in Charred Emerald.

I’m not sure I would rush out and part with £36 for each of those products though, beautiful as they are. If I was to invest in something from this collection, then perhaps the Eye Palette, from the New York collection. At £68, it’s steep, but it is lovely, and has six super shadows, which can be used wet or dry.

The London look has Eye Ink, a deep black gel formula for ‘sooty black eyes’ and Eye Metal in Bitter Clove, a really lovely gold shade. I do love a gold eye.

It’s not a huge collection, it’s, as you might expect, heavily colour-based, and interestingly, there is no mascara.

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING MAKEUP FOR MANY YEARS. I AM ALWAYS MIXING COLORS TO GET WHAT I WANT. WITH THIS COLLECTION, I BELIEVE I HAVE CREATED MANY OF THE KEY PIECES THAT YOU REALLY NEED IN YOUR MAKEUP KIT. AS A WOMAN WHO LIKES TO WEAR MAKEUP, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. NOW I AM EXCITED TO SHARE IT WITH WOMEN EVERYWHERE. – Victoria Beckham

It’s available now, at esteelauder.co.uk, and at Selfridges. Prices range from £22 to £68.
