Clinique's new Superbalanced Foundation

2 min read

Clinique have just launched another new foundation, called Superbalanced. I’ve probably tried pretty much all of Clinique’s foundations over the years, and liked some more than others. I don’t generally use Clinique bases these days, but I gave this one a go for this review, and it’s pretty decent.

The idea of it is that it ‘balances it all’ in terms of makeup. So, it feels weightless on your skin, but gives perfect cover, controls oil, but hydrates, has a fluid, silky texture, but has SPF protection. It is, say Clinique, the epitome of ‘no makeup make up’ – and with the pared down look of the 90s on-trend this season, that’s a look that plenty are going for.

Clinique say this is great for dry combination, combination oily, and oily skin types. So, with my normal to dry skin, it’s not ideal for me.

Having said that, I like the idea of it, and it does feel very, very light. The full name is Superbalanced Silk Makeup SPF 15, and I get the silk part. It feels beautiful on the skin. It is supposed to be able to mattify oily areas, and hydrate dry patches, and it didn’t do too badly at this at all, and it is buildable. I suggest using where you need it, and then buidling on it.

Light polymers and real silk diffuse the look of pores, lines and wrinkles. Key ingredients include Laminaria Saccharina Extract to aid in training parts of the skin that are bothered with excess oils, and Sodium Hyaluronate which helps keep skin moisturised all day. It also provides a 3:1 ratio of UVB to UVA protection/broad spectrum SPF protection with a blend of chemical and physical sunscreens.

Clinique Superbalanced Silk makeup SPF15, £23, is available from Clinique counters and clinique.co.uk now.
