Bobbi Brown, Wine, Chocolate and Go Sober October!

3 min read

The irony wasn’t lost on me when this lovely collection by Bobbi Brown landed on my desk last week. I’m in the last week of Go Sober October for Macmillan, and my sponsored sobriety is becoming more and more difficult every weekend!

Not having a drink this month has been tough, and when this lovely lot arrived, it made things even worse! With names including wine, and prosecco, the products were taunting me!

But my resolve is sound, and this is as near as I will get to alcohol this month. Bobbi Brown has created the Wine & Chocolate Collection to celebrate the brand’s 25th anniversary, which Bobbi herself will be celebrating with two of her favourite things – wine and chocolate.

Dark chocolate and red wine are two of my favourite indulgences, and, over the years, the rich shades of both have inspired some of our most popular and gorgeous colours. – Bobbi Brown

At the heart of this collection, as ever, is a lovely palette – two of them actually. The Limited Edition Chocolate Eye Palette and Wine Eye Palette (it’s the Wine palette picture, of course!). (£42.50 each).

Both these palettes include four limited-edition shades of Eye Shadow in matte and shimmer-infused champagne, pinot noir (stop, you are torturing me!), cocoa and brone tones, along with three shades of Intense Pigment Liner. Beautiful. And the palettes have a faux leather top. In the Chocolate palette, the shades are Ivory, Woodrose, Milk Choloate and Velvet Bronze shadows, with Cocoa Mauve, Navy and Black Chocolate liners.

In the Wine palette, the shades are Frappe, Moon Glow, Black Cocoa and Pinot Noir shadows, with Molten Chocolate, Malbec and Night Intense liners.

There are four shades of Limited Edition Sequin Eye Shadow (£26) – these lovely singles are luminous and shimmering, wear them as a wash of sheer sparkle, or layer for a dramatic evening look. The shades are Golden Chocolate, Silver Heather, Rose Gold, and Prosecco, which is pictured in my empty champagne/prosecco coup!

There are three Limited Edition Luxe Lip Colors (£25), a chocolately Tawny, a pink Uber Nude, and a rich merlot-inspired Your Majesty.

Limited Edition Nail Polish (£12.50) comes in Chocolate and Wine, and Limited Edition Brightening Blush (£35) comes in Warm Cocoa or Pink Truffle. I adore these – the nude is chocolate inspired, and the pink is Rose-inspired, of course! These blushes are fab – they’re three shades, and deliver just a oft wash of colour with a subtle shimmer.

There are two Limited Edition brushes in this collection too – and Angle Eye Shadow Brush (£24.50), and a Smokey Eye Liner Brush (£24.50).

So, getting over the fact that this makes me crave the bottle of Pinot Noir that is sitting staring at me on the sideboard, I do love this sumptuous, rich, winter collection that has more than a nostalgic hint of the 1990s about it when it all started for Bobbi and her brilliant brand.
