Awaken Your Skin With Tulasara from Aveda

Sometimes, it can get a bit stale in the beauty world – same old colour stories each season, same old moisturiser launches, etc, etc. But, on occasion, there are some super launches that get beauty editors sittingup in their chairs, and really noticing. Aveda’s Tulasara is one of those.

It’s something completely new, and I am intrigued. Tulasara skincare is based on Ayurvedic wisdom. According to Ayurveda, we are all comprised of five elements; infinity, air, fire, water, and earth – and moving toward balance between these elements is key in achieving an optimum stage of well-being.

Aveda Tulasara Awkaning Ritual

Whether you believe all of this, is irrelevant to the enjoyment you will get of this product, but it definitely will help you enjoy it more, I suppose!

We are constantly reminded that moments of stress, and lack of sleep, and fatigue from everyday life takes its toll on the mind, body and skin. We all desire to live a more balanced life, and this experimental skincare collection is going to help you at least achieve balance with your skin!

Aveda Tulasara Oleation Oil

And that means facial dry brushing! Yep, with the cutest little brush, Aveda want you to brush that face up good! Facial dry brushing is traditoonally known in Ayurvedic culture to promote skin renewal and exfoliation, eliminate toxins and other impurities to help reveal that radiant, glowing skin.

Aveda Facial Brush

Aveda have brought this brushing ito their two-step Tulasara Radiant Awakening Ritual.

Step one is using the Tulasara Radiant Facial Dry Brush (£27). Use it on clean skin, before you put anything on it, and start at the centre of the decollete and move in gentle, circular motions anti-clockwise, gradually working up the neck and onto the face. Do one side at a time, sweep across the eye area, from inner to outer corners, and then sweep the brush in downwards motions from the sides of the face to the collarbone. This helps encourage lymph drainage.

Step two uses the Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil (£38). This oil is a 100% naturally-derived blend of six plant oils, designed to be massaged into the skin after the facial dry brushing. This will help nourish and reveal skin’s natural glow. This blend includes certified organic sesame, sunflower, jojoba seed oils, rose hip, apricot kernel and sweet almond oil. So, how do you use this? You just massage it into the skin, to encourage micro-circulation, and leave on for at least four minutes before cleansing the face.

All of this might seem like a lot of effort, but if you want to treat your skin, I recommend it. It feels great, and your skin looks radiant. YOu can also buy the brush and oil together in a kit (£65).

Aveda have also introduced three Tulasara Concentrates (£45 each) to further your experience. These are targeted skincare products whcih will strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier, whilst helping to centre the mind and body with the Tulasara Aroma infusion.

The Firm Concentrate lifts and firms, thanks to a blend of Ayurvedic plant extracts, including almond seed extract. The Bright Concentrate instantly helps restore radiance and reduces the look of dark spots, discolouration and uneven skin tone. It utilises Licorice root extract, molasses extract and glucosamine.

The Calm Concentrate instantly soothes skin, using an algae extract to help reduce the look of redness and irritation, while pomegranate fruit extract, an anti-oxidant known in the Ayurvedic tradition for its soothing powers, helps calm the look of the skin. And each 30ml bottle contains more than 100,000 red raspberry plant stem cells known for their renewing powers.

These lovely products come in glass bottles are housed in glass bottles inspired by design cues of a traditional apothecary – and they are three sided, inspired by the three doshas of Ayurveda – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Nope, me neither!!
