Sunshine Yellow Beauty

4 min read

The sun’s been shining for the last few days, and how happy does it make us? I love yellow – so, because the sun is now disappearing again, I thought we’d have some fun with some sunshine yellow beauty!

Here’s a few beauty products -yellow, or in lovely yellow packaging, to bring a little bit of that sunshine back to your beauty routine!

I’m saying ‘Yay for Yellow!’

Let’s start with yellow nails – guaranteed to bring joy to you and anyone who sees them. Go full on yellow with Nails Inc Golden Lane shocking yellow Neon Nail Polish (£15, nailsinc.com). You need the activator too, and then neon bright nails are all yours. And trust me, this is very bright. If it’s maybe too bright, then Nails Inc Gel Effect in Seven Dials (£15).

Soap & Glory’s Kick Ass Fake Awake Dark Circles Concealer (£8, Boots) has the right amount of yellow tones in it to correct and hide your under-eye circles, and boost your skin’s radiance. It contains vitamin E for its antioxidant properties, and coconut oil for moisturising.

Benefit’s The Porefessional License to Blot instant oil-blotting stick (£15.50, benefitcosmetics.co.uk) comes in the cutest yellow striped packaging, and the product is pretty good too! This stick has tiny invisible blotting spheres which mattify shine for up to six hours. The triangular shaped top targets shiny zones – side of your nose, forehead and chin.

Yellow Beauty Makeup

Yellow eyeshadow is probaby not for everyone. Illamasqua and MAC both bave bold, bright yellow, but let’s face it, not many of us are going to get away with bold, yellow eyes, are we? So, I’m focusing on two yellow (ish) shades from Bobbi Brown – both very wearable.

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Banana (£17.50) is a muted yellow/cream shade,  perfect for using as a base in a smokey eye with a difference, or just as a colour wash. Bobbi’s Sparkle Eye Shadow in Sunlight (£24) is a gorgeous, warm, golden glittery shade, perfect for adding a shimmery hint to a summer eye.

Clarins Toning Lotion with Camomile (£19.50, clarins.co.uk) is a lovely gentle, alochol-free, YELLOW, toning lotion for dry/normal skin, which stimulates and refreshes the skin. It contains camomile, alpine herbs and linden extracts to soften, smooth and soothe, as well as vitamins A. B and E.

Scottish brand, Ermana, are lovely, all natural and full of goodness. This Refresh Lip Balm with grapefruit (£8, ermana.co.uk) is a blend of natural butters, Shea, cocoa and coconut, hand blended with sweet almond oil and beeswax,  and infused with refreshing grapefruit pure essential oil. And the packaging is just lovely, agreed?

Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing + Lotion (£30, 125ml with pump, clinique.co.uk) is the king of yellow beauty products, right? This classic moisurtiser has been around forever (actually since 1968!) is a firm favourite of so many. My mum loves it, as does my mother-in-law, and its popularity shows no sign of waning. It is a generally good, all-round, moisturiser – try it!

Yellow Beauty Skincare

Murad’s Rejuvenating AHA Hand Cream (£24, feelunique.com) is in the prettiest yellow packaging, and is guaranteed to bring you sunny, youthful, hands! It contains Glycolic Acid to gently exfoliate and even skin tone, and botanical extracts, rich in hyaluronic acid for maximum hydration.

Suncream in yellow packaging  – why would it be in anything else?! If you are heading for the sun, then make sure you have your sunscreen with you. The sun is beautiful, but it can cause untold damage. Clarins suncare is my favourite, and although you need to get your dose of Vitamin D, if you are in the hot summer sun, and your skin isn’t used to it, then use the highest protection you can. Clarins Sun Care Milk Lotion Spray 50+ UVA/UVB (£20) is that lotion!

Swell are my new favourite haircare brand (well, one of them!), and their fab 3-step programme is great. Their Swell Ultimate Volume Masque (£26, Boots) is an additional product to use once a week to help hydrate and repair your hair, and build luxurious volume for fine hair that is also dry, coloured or damaged. It is lightweight, and in the loveliest of yellow tubes!

Yellow Beauty sun and haircare

Lush’s Montalbano Shampoo Bar (£5.95) smells absolutely DELICIOUS! Truly, it is mouth-watering! It contains green olives to improve the strength of your hair, rosemary absolute for cleansing, Sicilian lemon oil, and freshly squeezed lemon juice to make your hair shine from root to tip. Wet your hair, lather it up and rub it all over your hair, and then rinse.

When life gives you lemons…!
