Tom Ford Orchid Soleil

KLAXON! Tom Ford fans, there’s a new orchid in town – Orchid Soleil. It’s not actually in town yet, it launches on August 1, so you have just under a month to wait. But if you’re an orchid fan, it will be worth it.

Orchid Soleil, so say the brand, ‘illuminates Tom Ford’s original obsession with the elusive Black Orchid‘. It’s a sexy, sensual scent. Not my favourite, because I find the tuberose heart a wee bit cloying. I also find the top note of pink peppercorn really strong when you initially spray, but it does melt away quite quickly. The other top notes are bigarade (a sour citrus), and fresh cypress (from the conifer family), so it is quite a punchy intro to the perfume.

The heart is floral, with spider lily and that tuberose. And then, bottom notes of vanilla, chestnut cream and patchoul give it a creamy, sweet drydown.

If you are a Tom Ford Orchid fan, and you like sweet, floral scents, then you will love this. It is a deep, rounded scent, and it will suit the late summer mood perfectly.

The rose gold bottle is a lovely version of the classic Black Orchid bottle – it will grace any dressing table, beautifully.

Tom Ford Orchid Soleil, available in three sizes 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml, at £54, £76, and £108, from August 1 at Tom Ford counters nationwide.
