Bare Minerals launch skincare line

bareMinerals’ skincare line lands on (some) counters today. Called Skinsorials, the line has nine prodiucts, with the SkinLongevity Vital Power Infusion serum at the heart of it.

The SkinLongevity is a first of its kind,  lightweight serum essence designed to reawaken and help maintain skin’s most vibrant look of health, say bareMinerals.

They’re the leading foundation brand in the USA, and have recently introduced various foundations with skincare benefits, so it’s no surprise this range has followed.

I believe it’s time to focus on making healthy choices every single day that energise you and make you look and feel incredibly vibrant, radiant and beautiful,” explains Leslie Blodgett, Creator of bareMinerals. “Until now, the conversation around skincare has always been about reversing the ageing process, and anti-aging. That thinking is outdated. It’s time to make feeling beautiful the goal.”

Committed to its problem-solving roots, bareMinerals conducted a global skincare survey and discovered that 72% of women feel that despite using skincare products, their skin is not healthy, and 91% of women wish their skincare products provided long-term results. These findings—innately tied to the brand’s belief of delivering healthier alternatives—are the cornerstone of new bareMinerals SKINSORIALS skincare, a line based on the fundamental concepts of healthy looking skin and longevity.

So, the line is divided into three parts – Purify, Empower, and Moisturise. The Purify part is the cleanse, the Empower is that serum essence, and the Moisturise is, well, moisturisers of course.

The key ingredient in the range is Long Life Herb, found in Okinawa, the Japanese location where women thrive and live longer than any other place in the world. The herb grows in the island’s harsh climate, showing its ability to survive, and therefore it’s efficacy as a skincare ingredient is proven. Known as Chomeiso in Japanese, it’s  a super superfood shown to have a higher vitamin and mineral content than spinach and kale. (You just know this stuff is coming to an Instragram near you soon!).

In addition to being loaded with antioxidants, the plant has high amounts of calcium, magnesium and potassium and is incredibly high in polyphenols. Legend has it that eating just one bunch of Long Life Herb will extend life by one day.

There are four cleansers in the line- Pure Plush Gentle Deep Cleansing Foam, Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser, Bleish Remedy Anti-Imperection Treatment Gelee, and Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil. I have tried the foam and the oil, and both are effective and smnell great. I do wish there was a rich cream cleanser, or an oil that you didn’t have to rinse. I am surprised that they haven’t gone down the popular balm or cleansing cream route, as these are definitely the cleanser types I prefer, as do many.

The SkinLongevity has the highest amounts of Long Life Herb in it, as well as California Poppy and Lempuyang Ginger Extracts. Use the serum essence after cleansing and before moisturising.

There are four moisturisers to choose from – True Oasis Oil-Free Replenishing Gel Cream, Smart Combination Soothing Lightweight Emulsion, Bare Haven Essential Moisturising Cream, Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream. The latter is the best product for my skin type. It’s a rich buttercream, smells delicious, and is hydrating, with anti-ageing properties too.

This is a reasonably comprehensive skincare line, but expect new products to launch into it sooner rather than later. Prices range from £17 to £45, with average moisturiser prices around £30. The SkinLongevity is at the top end of the price scale, and the cleaners are at the other.

Bare Minerals Skinsorials skincare line is available at bareMinerals boutiques and Debenhams from today, and then rolls out nationwide across counters from June 16. Visit bareminerals.co.uk
