BOURJOIS launch a new alternative at-home to gel nails next week, La Laque Gel. GEL nails have to be the most popular nails around. As someone who loves to change her nail colour, I’m not the biggest fan, because being stuck with the same shade for a few weeks does annoy me. However, on the occasions I have indulged, I have loved my Shellac, and the ease of it – and not having to worry about chipping.
I have tried a few ‘at-home’ gel nail kits, and generally found them to peel a bit, and chip a bit, and not really be worth all the hassle – I’d rather just go to salon (and there are plenty to choose from on 5pm Spa & Beauty!).
This new Bourjois polish – well actually a two-step nail routine – aims to make our lives easier, so they say, by giving us a professional manicured finish, but something we can easily achieve at home.
Really, it’s just a nail polish and a top coat. La Laque Gel (£6.99) comes in 10 brilliant shades, from nudes to deep plums, including two brand new colours. So, you apply two coats of this highly pigmented, very shiny, gel colour formula, and then you apply the new Le Top Coat Gel (£6.99). This long-lasting glossy gel will fix the colour without UV light, and creates a rounded effect on the nails. It also claims to last for 15 days.
It didn’t last for 15 days on me, more like five, but it does have a lovely shine, I will give it that. I tried Orange Outrant, and I love the sunny, summery colour. I am willing to try again, and see if it lasts longer, perhaps when I am not doing as much DIY (we’re moving home).
There’s also a Gel Kit Duo (£10.99) in three shades – Chair Et Tendre, a pale pink, Are You Reddy? A red, of course, and Cherry D’Amour, a deep red.
The full line up of shades is Chair Et Tendre, Orange Outrant, Flambant Rose, Are You Reddy?, Fuchsiao Bella, Lycheers, Cherry D’Amour. Beach Violet, Reddy For Love, and Pink Pocket.
