Rose Quartz Pinks

3 min read

Pantone’s Color of the Year this year is actually two – Rose Quartz and Serenity – that’s baby pink and baby blue to you and me! But there’s more scope for wearable makeup with Rose Quartz, so that’s what I am bringing you today – gorgeous, wearable, pale pinks, for cheeks, lips, eyes and nails.

Rose Quartz Pink lips

Let’s start with the lips. Pale pink can be awkward to wear, particularly when opaque or matte – I’m not sure I can rock that 1960s vibe. But Illamasqua’s Lipstick in Liv (3. £19.50, illamasqua.com) is that lipstick. It is completely matte, very, very pale pink, and is not for the faint-hearted. But, if you can pull it off, it rocks!

The Body Shop Lipstick (2. £10, thebodyshop.co.uk) is a more candy pink  than true pastel, whcih makes it easier to wear, easier on more skintones, and this formula is high impact, and long-lasting. And … it smells of rose!

MAC’s Cremesheen Glass in Such Sweeties (1. £17.50, maccosmetics.co.uk) comes from their forthcoming Flamingo Park collection, out in March, which is AMAZING! Just think LOTS of pink. It’s a sweet, shiny pale pink.

From the same collection, I also love MAC’s Eye Shadow in Flock & Roll (1. £13), a brilliantly matte pale pink that is just great as a base, or for a simple sweep of pastel colour.

Pale Pink Eyes

The Body Shop’s Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Pink Crush (2. £7) is a lovely pearlescent pink that is a perfect sring shimmer of colour. Aveda’s Lilac Glow shade of Petal Essence Single Eye Colour Refill (4. £13, aveda.co.uk) is more of a pink than a lilac, and is a lovely colour for spring.

Clarins Silver Pink Cream-to-Powder Iridescent Eyeshadow (3. £19, clarins.co.uk) has a lovely silver-pink, iridescence to it, perfect for summer when you need just a hint of colour to catch the sun.

A pop of pink on a cheek can make all the difference to a tired complexion. Illamasqua’s Power Blusher in Katie (1. £22, illamasqua.com) has a soft, matte finish, and is colour-intense. It’s such an all-round product this one – you can use it wet for a more intense colour, and it works brilliantly on eyes too. I actually adore this shade now.

If you like a cream blush, and something a little less matte, and in your face, then The Body Shop’s Fresh Sorbet Blush (2. £12) in Lychee Blossom might work for you. It has that gorgeous rose scent again, like the lipstick, and the effect is sheer and subtle.

Pale pink cheeks

Finally, pale pink nails. I don’t think I have painted my nails pale pink for decades! I’m more of a statement than subtle kinda gal, but how wrong have I been? I used Nails Inc Nail Kale in York Mews (£14, nailsinc.com), which Nails Inc call a ‘muted nude’ and I call a pale pink. Their Nail Kale range nourishes as well, which is good news for rubbish nails like mine!

Nails Inc Pale Pinks

The Nails Inc Nail Pure polish (£14) is ‘six-free’ – that means no DBP, Toulene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde resin, Animal derivatives and Camphor. What it does contains is Nails Inc’s patented Regenerating Complex (an Aldehyde, zinc and calcium blend) that boosts the production of keratin for harder, stronger, healthier nails. The shade here is Bond Street Passage, a sort of lighter pink than York Mews.

Finally, Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Mayfair Lane (£15). This one is a super glossy, super pale pink, perfect for the 1960s look.
