Dr Weil for Origins Micellar Cleanser

ALL beauty fans will be aware of Micellar Cleansers. They’ve become a bit of a cult beauty product in the Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom Micellar Cleanserlast few years, since making their way out of the backstage areas, and into the limelight – and the posts of many beauty bloggers.

Now, Origins have joined the party with their Dr Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin-Relief Micellar Cleanser, which has recently launched.

We’ve all read the buzz about ‘double cleansing’ and a Micellar Cleanser is great for a second cleanse for me, almost like a toner. I am not a fan of them as a first cleanse, as I prefer an oil or a balm, but that’s just a personal thing. They are, however, a great, quick-cleanse alternative to wipes, and nowhere near as harsh.

You do need to use them with cotton pads, because when  the micellar cleanser, on the pad, is applied to the skin, it acts like a magnet, attracting and entrapping impurities without any harsh rubbing, or scraping.

Origins have pointed out that regular hard water from the taps, with a higher-than-normal mineral content, can be difficult for sensitive skin. In Scotland, our water is mainly soft, and we don’t have quite the same issues. Micellars were first created in Paris, notorious for hard water.

But, if you are a Micellar fan, then give this new one a go. It won’t strip, and it is alcohol and oil-free, and thoroughly cleansing. When you apply, rice bran extract helps neutralise the effects of that hard water and its high mineral content, and it grabs onto residual pollution left behind on the skin and neutralises it. Yeast Berry Ferment helps combat the effects of pollution.

It feels less water-like than some of the Micellars, which is probably a good thing if, like me, you want a little more from your cleanser.
