Take Two - Multi-purpose beauty oils

3 min read

There are literally hundreds of oils on the beauty market these days. As well as the classic body oils, and treatment oils that we’ve had for years, the beauty world has fully embraced facial oils in recent years, as well as hair oils that aren’t just those heattheminwaterandthenapply hair oils that I remember from the 1990s.

Dry oils revolutionised body oils – all the oil benefits, none of the oily mess. But now, we’ve gone one step further, with multi-purpose oils. Okay, they’re not a brand new concept, but for me, they are only worth it if they work – and many I have tried just don’t.

These two? They do.

Multi-purpose beauty oils Creme de la Mer and Neom

Creme de la Mer The Renewal Oil (£155, cremedelamer.co.uk) is as luxury a skincare product as you get, and normally I a not a big fan of Creme. I get a little bit peeved with all the miracle broth and ferment chat, when obviously there’s not any actual miracles taking place, and the ingredients are not all natural or at all organic, or the brand would surely say so.

But, having used this product for a good few weeks now, I have to say I love it. It’s light, it smells delightful, and it’s dual-phase – the Miracle Broth is a water.Neom and Creme de la Mer Oils

So, when the bottle is settled, you can see the separate parts. To use, you just shake, and then loads of little bubbles filled with skincare goodness appear.

I’ve been using this oil mostly on my face, mixed with my moisturiser, and I am loving the results on my skin so far. No dryness and we’re in November! I am also aware that it is an anti-ageing product -hence the renewal, so it can only be beneficial to my skin in the long term.

I’ve also used it on the ends of my hair, and on my hands, mixed with my handcream.

It is expensive, but after a few weeks use, daily, I’ve hardly used any. You don’t need a lot at all. It’s perfect as a night oil, alone, brilliant mixed with your moisturiser, and fab for your hands. If you want to indulge yourself, then this is the product for you.

The second oil I have recently tried is Neom Organic’s Face, Body and Hair Oil Intense Night Repair (£32, neomorganics.com).

This mighty 100ml bottle of oily goodness is 100% natural, ethically sourced, and crafted in the UK.

This oil is part of the Scent to Sleep range, and contains no less than 19 of the finest essential oils, including lavender, sweet basil and jasmine. There is nothing nicer than applying this oil before bed.

It smells heavenly, and, whilst I felt it would be too heavy for my face at first, it’s not. It’s a brilliant night-time treatment. If you use it every night on just the face, then this bottle would last forever.

I have enjoyed oiling my arms of an evening as well, and I did as suggested on the bottle, and massaged the oil into my hair, and left on overnight for an intensive masque treatment.

It was absolutely the best thing my hair had had done to it for a long time. I washed it the next day and my hair felt silky smooth and soft, which is not how it usually feels!

I keep this in my bedside drawer, and it’s a pleasure to use every night. I also think it does help as part of a sleep ritual.
