Origins Original Skin Face Mask

2 min read

Origins have added a mask to their Original Skin range, the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay. The Original Skin range was developed with 25+ age bracket in mind. Their hashtag #quarterlifecrisis goes with any social media chat on this range.

So far, the range consists of two items – the Original Skin Renewal serum with Willowherb, which launched earlier this year, and now this new mask.

What Origins are trying to achieve with this range is that dewy, glowing skin that youth naturally has. So, apparently, at about 25, says Origins, this starts to change. Our skin becomes a little bit less glowing, a little less dewy, and we start to lose the youthful glow. How depressing. Sorry 25-year-olds. (But not that sorry, I am, well, a lot older than that, tomorrow!).

Anyway. Even though I am not in my 20s, I gave this product a go, as I love a mask, and one that promises dewy, glowing skin, works for me!

So, what’s so special about this mask?

Well, its not just a mask. It’s actually an exfoliator too. It deeply cleanses, and exfoliates, and refines surface texture.  It does this in two phases – phase one is where it purifies and deep cleans, thanks to the rose clay (apparently used by the likes of Cleopatra and Nefertiti, back in the day…get those history books out!), as well as Canadian Willowherb, which helps to restore skin’s clarity and luminosity.

There is also Persian Silk Tree in there, an anti-irritant native to Easter Asia, and used in traditional Chinese medicine to help the skin rebound from the effects of stress.

Phase two is the exfoliating phase – once the mask dries, natural wax Jojoba beads suspended in the formula activate with water. They gently exfoliate, sloughing off the dead cells. The treatment has a lovely rejuvenating scent, thanks to an essential oil blend of grapefruit, lavender, rose, amyris, chamomile and clary sage.

So, how is it?

Merle in the Mask!

Well, it tightens quickly, and by the time 10 minutes are up, it is very tight on the face. You then use your fingertips and water to massage it in and activate the exfoliation. Then, Origins say, just use your fingers to wipe off. Er, how?! I found this impossible. I had to get cotton pads soaked in water, and would recommend a facial cleansing cloth to be honest. It stuck fast.

Results?

My skin felt smooth after use, if not a little tight, but I do have dry skin, and more mature skin than this is aimed at. I do love the retro pink colour.
