Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation

Another new foundation? Yes, but this one is a wee bit different. Inspired by her holistic approach to beauty, Bobbi has created a luxe hybrid foundation, the perfect blend of skincare and makeup.

Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF40 ‘beautifies from the inside out’ with super-charged serum ingredients, including Cordyceps Mushroom, a powerful tonic used in traditional Chinese medicine, along with Bobbi’s signature skintone correct pigments.

For centuries traditional Chinese medicine practitioners have been tapping into the energy and health-enhancing properties of this super mushroom, whcih is now available in a foundation for the first time outside China.

So, there’s a lot of science behind this product. It’s made through a cutting edge bi-phase cold fusion process that allows the skincare actives to stay potent, while fusing with the foundation pigments.

The result is an extra-fine emulsion. As well as the Cordyceps Mushroom, there’s Bamboo Grass Extract for radiance, clarity and luminosity, and Lychee Extract for hydration, helped by Watermelon and Apple extracts too.

So, this product re-energises the skin, restores radiance, boosts moisture, firms, lifts and smoothes, and also a natural deep sea ferment from the ocean floor helps with barrier repair, which helps strengthen the skin and prevents moisture from escaping. It also has an SPF40.

Now,  the instructions to use this foundation are to apply just a small amount, after cleansing and moisturising, focusing on around the nose and mouth, and anywhere you see redness or unevenness, and then blend with a foundation brush (or a sponge or your fingertips). You need to shake the bottle well, to mix it up.

I’ve not tried this yet, but I will update this post when I have. For now, let me know your thoughts?

UPDATE: I have now tried this, and I am impressed. You really do need just a little, and it really covers redness. I applied this, and had a few glasses of wine (for my review, of course), and the usual reddening of my cheeks happened, but, you couldn’t see it as much as normal. It also feels gorgeous when it goes on, gives a lovely coverage, smells heavenly, and lasts. And, of course, the serum is energizing your skin every day you use it.

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF40, available now at Bobbi counters and bobbibrown.co.uk, £39. Comes in 16 shades, across the skintone spectrum.
