Melvita L'Or Rose Firming Oil

2 min read

Lovely French organic brand Melvita have a new body oil out next month – L’Or Rose Firming Oil. An anti-cellulite oil, with a much lovelier name!

It’s a toning oil, really, promising smoother, and firmer skin, thanks to a combination of four oils, actually. So, it tones, moisturises, nourishes and enhances, and it smells lovely! It has subtle zesty top notes of pink pepper, Argentinian lemon and Italian bergmot, floral and aroatic heart notes of lavender, spearmint and peony, and a lovely musky base of white iris, vetiver and Melvita L'Or Rose Body Oilambrette seed.

As with most of Melvita products this is a very natural product – 99% of the total ingredients are from natural origin, and 36% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming.

So, you should use L’Or Rose twice daily, massaging into the skin with circular motions, starting at the lower thighs and working up to the hips. Alternatively, Melvita suggest you use use the undeniably effective pinch-and-roll technique – which sounds painful to me! The oil is non-oily, which is a bonus for the morning application.

So, what about these oils? Well, Melvita was inspired by a small pink berry found on Réunion Island. Schinus terebinthifolius is renowned for its detoxifying properties, which have earned it the local name of “Pink Gold”. The oil derived from these berries has an exceptional slimming action in two parts:

Preventative action: by breaking the “shield” (perilipin A) that coats them, it slows down the formation of “large droplets” of fat that are difficult to eliminate once they have found their way to the heart of adipocytes.
• Corrective action: it boosts microcirculation and promotes drainage, so that the “small” lipid droplets in the skin can break down more easily. With a lipolytic activity that is eight times higher than that of caffeine, it’s fair to say that it is very effective on cellulite.

The other oils, with complementary properties, are:

Sea buckthorn seed and pulp oil, whcih has a detoxifying action, which
breaks up the triglycerides stored in adipocytes; it is also rich in Vitamin E and beta-carotene, for softer, supple skin.
Black pepper oil, known for stimulating blood circulation, it promotes the breakdown of adipocytes.
Rosehip oil, particularly rich in alpha-linolenic acid, it revitalizes the skin and improves elasticity.

Melvita’s L’Or Rose may be an anti-cellulite product, but it is nothing like many of the other, more clinical products on offer. If you like these products, then you should give this one a go.
