Living Lalique

So, apparently it’s International Fragrance Day tomorrow – who knew? So, I thought I would share a beautiful new scent that you won’t be able to spray tomorrow, as it’s not on sale until April, but you will want to add to your perfume wardrobe, the minute you see and smell it.

Living Lalique is as visually beautiful as sensorially. I love the bottle; Lalique wouldn’t disappoint right enough, would they?!

The transparent glass bottle of Living Lalique was inspired by the ribbed design of the ‘Carnette fleur’ model – an Art Nouveau-style bottle created in 1911 by René Lalique. The term ‘carnette’ designates the wide, flat glass ring encircling the collar of the bottle.

Rounder than the original model, the bottle of Living Lalique has a heavy glass bottom. The metal ring that girds the collar is engraved with the name of the fragrance. The cap, featuring Lalique’s Swallows emblem, echoes the shape of the collar of ‘Carnette fleur’.

The Art Deco-style box is adorned with a flight of gold swallows, set against a delicately embossed white background. It is circled with a golden band bearing the name of the fragrance in white letters. The Swallows logo decorates the top of the box.

As for the perfume, it’s a lovely blend of fresh and spicy top notes, powdery heart notes and woody base notes. It starts with the cystalline notes of bergamot and sparkling black pepper, and sweetly aromatic nutmeg. The floral at the heart is the iris. Living Lalique Notes

This most precious of ingredients requires a six-year process, from the moment the flower is planted to the extraction of the orris butter, before yielding its silky, powdery facets to perfumers. Wow.

It is softened and modernised in this scent, with a balsamic accord of vanilla and almond-scented tonka bean. The woody accents of this sumptuous iris, are enhanced by the smokiness of
vetiver, the creaminess of sandalwood and the voluptuous warmth of Cashmere wood as they extend into the dry down.
