Hello Cheekbones with Clinique!

Contouring. If you’re a beauty fan, you will be hugely familiar with that word. We’ve blogged about contouring before, and here we are again, with Clinique launching three new products next month that will create perfect cheekbones, and contoured areas of your face.

Clinique’s new contour products come in, what else, but Chubby sticks – Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour, and Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight. These cheekbone highlighting and sculpting colour crayons are so easy to use – you just apply, and then blend with your fingertips.

The Sculpting Highlight Chubby contains pearlised, light-reflecting pigments to add a luminous sheen that makes features appear more prominent in the prettiest of ways, and is perfect for enhancing those cheekbones.

The Sculpting Contour Chubby creates enhanced depth and definition in desired areas. Here’s Clinique’s guide on how to use the new Chubby sticks.

TO HIGHLIGHT FEATURES IN A FLASH: Dab Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight across the top of each cheekbone, down the bridge of the nose, in the middle of your forehead and in the centre of your chin. Blend well with fingertips.

TO MAKE CHEEKBONES POP: Suck in cheekbones and swipe the highlighting chubby across the top of each cheekbone and the contouring chubby underneath each cheekbone and blend well again.

TO SLIM AND SHAPE THE NOSE: Use the side-edge of the contouring chubby on either side of the nose and then apply the highlighting chubby down the bridge of the nose, and blend well.

TO DEFINE THE JAWLINE: Dot the contouring chubby along the jawline and blend down.

Clinique’s UK Colour Artist Florrie White also shares her rules for contouring:

*Let your own bone structure guide you

* Contours and highlights should complement each other

* Highlight above an/or below the contour

* Suck in and see! Suck in your cheeks and follow the hollow!

* This is your secret – so make sure you blend away the lines into shadows.

As well as the two new Chubby Sticks, Clinique are launching Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palettes. These palettes contain stay-true powder blush which will deliver rich, lasting, buildable, and blendable colour.  The palettes have three shades in them, which can be used separately to colour, contour and highlight, or swirl them together for a quick, easy, natural glow. The new palette comes in four shade combinations; Defining Nectars, Defining Roses, Defining Berries, and Defining Nudes.

So, how should they be used?

FOR BLUSH IN A RUSH: Use a blusher brush to swirl all three shades together, and dust over the apples of the cheeks for a defined cheek shape and all-over radiance.

FOR SUPER-SCULPTED CHEEKS: Use a smaller brush to sweep the highlight shade across the tops of cheekbones, then another similar brush to apply the contour shades just below the cheekbones. Swirl your blusher brush over all three and sweep over the apple of the cheeks to blend.

New Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette, £28, New Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour, £19, and New Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight, £19, all available at Clinique counters, and online at clinique.co.uk, from February 6.
