Lush beauty film: The Experimenter

2 min read

Got a few minutes to spare? Need to completely relax? Then Lush are here to help with an amazing film, featuring nothing but their own fresh, handmade products and ingredients – and remember nothing is tested on animals. Called ‘The Experimenter’ it is choreographed to an original emotive score using a 45-piece orchestra and choral ensemble, creating a mesmerising cinematic piece of art.

That might sound a bit OTT  – but wait until you watch it. It’s lovely. And, it’s been inspired by shots like this  – that’s my bath!

Lush Time my bath

Inspired by the current social trend of Lush fans sharing bathtime works of art, using hashtag #LushTime, this film aims to capture the ultimate #LushTime!

For the techy fans, it’s also special because it’s been filmed using a Phantom Flex4K camera to capture the film at 4k ultra high definition, almost four times the detail of HD. Lush worked with the award-winning Production agency, The Mill (who also collaborated on Baz Luhrmann’s recent Chanel No5 feature advert and the Sainsbury’s Christmas campaign) to shoot ultra high definition footage in different environments, capturing shots of colour, texture and movement.

Lush the experimenter

To enhance the cinematic experience, Lush commissioned acclaimed electronica producer and recording artist Simon “Palm Skin” Richmond to compose this original musical piece tomaccompany the film. The emotive score is inspired by the synergy between the creative and visual process of inventing products and of creating music. Featuring choral ensemble The LondonVoices and a 45-piece orchestra, recorded at The Angel Studios, the piece is fused with heart-stopping electronica music.

Lush Digital Managing Director, Jack Constantine, comments, “This piece of art is a beautiful illustration of experimentation delving into the process behind our product invention. The collaboration between musical, cosmetic and visual artists has been a challenging creative journey with a rewarding result.”
