bareMinerals bareSkin Foundation

Yep, it’s another new foundation! This one is quite interesting, because it’s a liquid foundation, from bareMinerals. Mineral makeup is powder, right? Well, yes and no.  bareMinerals is a long-time detractor of liquid foundations so how do they justify bringing one out?

Er, like this. Okay, I’m not actually going to share the whole press statement with you, because you may be asleep by the end of it. I’ve read it, and read it again, and what it says is that bareMinerals have only launched three foundations since 1995 – their Original Foundation, Matte Foundation, and READY (solid) Foundation. All of them free from chemicals, with mineral ingredients, and good for your skin. And they must be doing something right as bareMinerals sells one foundation every three seconds globally.

However, they do realise that despite this success, liquid foundation remains the preferred preferred format for most women, and so, instead of having us turn to some other foundation that won’t be as good as theirs, and will harm our skin, they have sacrificed their original principles and decided to produce a liquid foundation like no other.

Well, yes, that’s all very honourable. And the ingredients sound good.  No oil. No silicone. No water. No parabens. No fragrance. Formulated with the bare minimum ingredients without sacrificing benefits, this ultra-thin, weightless fluid harnesses jojoba-coated mineral pigments suspended in a coconut-derived serum base. Combined with a potent blend of Vitamin C and supercharged Lilac Plant Stem Cells, this formula is, says bareMinerals,  a clinically proven mineral foundation and brightening serum in one.

So, what’s my verdict? It goes on well – you put a few drops, depending on the coverage you want, in the well (or fluid reservoir to give it its proper name) of the Perfecting Face Brush, and then you buff it on. And that’s when I have problems with it. It does go on well, but it just sat in every pore, and every dry patch on my face. So, it’s a bit of a no for me on this one, I am afraid, though I do love the brush, and will probably use that with my other bases. It’s meant for all skin types and all skin tones, and comes in 20 shades.

Have you tried it? What do you think?
