Neuro Tools from Paul Mitchell

2 min read

Paul Mitchell have recently launched a whole new range of styling tools – including straighteners which I have been trialling for a while now. The new Neuro range are cutting edge in hair technology, if you will pardon the pun!

The range includes a Dryer, Straighteners, Rod and Cone tongs, and traditional curling tongs.

I’ve been using the Straighteners – or to give them their real name – the Neuro Smooth. When I first picked them up, I was surprised at how light they were. At first they were a bit too light – I was used to the weight and shape of my GHDs. But the more I have used them, the more I have got used to the lightness of them, and in terms of straightening ability, they are excellent. The plates are titanium, and they heat up in seconds, and you can choose a temperature, up to 230 degrees.

They have the auto shut-off that most straighteners do these days, but have lots of little extras – optimised hinge tension to prevent hand strain, an ergonomic thumb rest, an exterior LCD display, and that programmable temperature setting.

I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and I am really impressed. The plates are slightly bigger than my GHDs, but I’m not having any issues with that at all – my hair is longer, so perhaps for shorter styles that may become an issue. But I really do like these, and at £89.95, whilst not a cheap option, they aren’t the £100+ GHDs are.

The Hair Dryer gives body and volume, using Tourmaline ions for faster drying, reducing frizz and adding shine. It also has a sleek look and has an exterior LED display, and includes a 2.7 metre premium professional cord with a hanging loop.

There are three types of curling/waving tools. If you want a traditional curling tong, then there is the Neuro Curl, perfect for creating waves and curls, with its titanium barrel. If you want ringlets and spirals, then you ant the Neuro Unclipped 0.75in Cone – high performance, easy to use, and small enough to get those curls beautifully tight.

There is a bigger 1.25in Cone, for more natural-looking curls as well. Finally, there’s the Rod – 1in diameter, this is perfect for beach waves. The beauty about the two Cones and the Rod is that they have a cool tip for easier styling. No burnt fingers here!

Paul Mitchell’s Neuro Tools are available now from Paul Mitchell salons, and lookfantastic.com – prices from £64.95 to £99.95. For more info and stockists, visit paul-mitchell.co.uk
