Tory Burch Beauty

I have to admit I had never really heard of designer Tory Burch before I saw her beauty collection. Apparently the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister, Pippa, are fans of her ballet pumps – named Reva, after her mother. More on her later.

I did a little more research and it seems she is worth, well, over a BILLION dollars! And her logo looks like that of Take That!(But probably best not to say that to her as she is very precious about her logo, and has sued impersonators in the past!)

Her beauty collection is lovely. The packaging is very decadent looking (if not a little light to the touch), and it’s a very simple collection. Like many all-American women – Aerin Lauder comes to mind – Ms Burch’s signature look is natural, and polished. So, it’s not a surprise her signature lipstick is a shade of pinky nude. The Tory Burch Lip Colour (£22) is called Pas du Tout, a phrase often used by Tory’s father, Buddy.

Cat’s Meow is the name given to the Tory Burch Lip & Cheek Tint Colour (£27.50) – from a phrase regularly used, apparently, on the Tory Burch Blog, for “people, places and things that are generally fantastic”. I’m not really understanding that one. Being a cat owner, I know that a cat’s meow does not signal good things, but bad! Anyway, this pot of product is a great summer tint – and it includes cassis, grapefruit and mandarin from the Tory Burch fragrance.

My favourite piece is the Tory Burch Bronzer & Blush in Divine (£35). It features three skin-brightening, luminous shades in pink, gold and ivory, all pressed into a lovely palette, and served up in a cute compact with a little envelope case. Oh, and the Divine comes from a signature expression of Tory’s mother, Reva.

There’s also a Tory Burch Face Brush (£35), extra soft, lovely size and perfect to apply the powder with.

At the heart – pink peony, lush tuberose, jasmine sambac and sweet alyssum. At the base, warm cedar and sensual sandalwood.

It’s a pleasant fragrance in lovely packaging – a nod to her mother’s bedroom vanity table and the classic perfume bottles and atomizers that graced it.

There are also lovely accompanying products – Body Cream (£54), Body Lotion (£36), Bath & Shower Gel (£31) and a Candle (£38).
