MAC's new eyes and lips

After the patent had run out on Clinique’s Chubby Sticks, I wonder if the beauty world expected such a flood of similar versions? Clinique will launch a cheek chubby later this year – keep an eye out for that  – but everyone else will continue to bring out their lip version.

The latest I’ve had my hands on is MAC’s Patent Polish Lip Pencil. I’m not sure why MAC bothered to be honest. It’s not that the product isn’t good, it is. But it’s just so, well, done. Why not try something else?

They may argue that this is different to the rest, but it’s a thick balm-like lip pencil to me. It twists up like the rest, it’s fill of creamy emollients, like the rest, and it has a reasonable amount of colour.

This is probably where I said ‘I’m out’ on the original Clinique chubby sticks – not enough colour.But their intense version fixed that. This has decent colour coverage, but it’s not my lip product of choice – not enough definition, or matte colour for me.

MAC has brought the Patent Polish Lip Pencils out in 12 colours – from nudes, to corals, to reds  to berry shades. They are selling really well, so MAC fans must love them. What do I know?!

Now, the other new single product from MAC I’ve been using recently is their Studio Sculpt Shade and Line. This is a 3-in-1 product for eyes – two eye shadows and one matte eyeliner, in three different textures – Matte, Sparkle and Metallic. Really easy to use – you just need brushes (MAC suggest their 212 Flat Definer Brush (£18) and 239 Eye Shader Brush (£20)), and you can create magic on your eyes!

Ebony Blend and Indigo Blend

There are eight colourways to choose from – Ebony Blend, Violet Blend, Eggplant Blend, Rose Blend, Apricot Blend, Olive Blend, Espresso Blend and Indigo Blend.  MAC eyeshadow is the best in the business, for me, so this product at £17, is great value, with two shadows, and one liner.

My favourites are the Indigo Blend, and Eggplant Blend. You?
