MAC Playland and Alluring Aquatic

MAC have two new spring/summer collections I have been having a look at of late – both of them very different. Alluring Aquatic is on counter and online now, and Playland is coming soon. Let’s deal with Playland first.

I LOVE this collection – bits of it were featured earlier this year in my Tropical makeup post. It’s what MAC do best – bold, bright, mad colour, and fantastic imagery. Playland is all about making a bold statement – it has yellow lipstick in it – how much bolder can you get?!

There are gorgeous Lipglasses (£14) and Lipsticks (£15) in bright pinks and bold oranges and corals, Chromoagraphic Pencils (£14) in bright complementary shades, and excellent Pigments (£17) in bold yellow, blue, coral and green. Oh, and a Limited Edition Casual Colour (£18)  – this fab product that has been around before, and MAC fans love, is a lip and cheek tint in one, perfect for summer, to add a swirl of bold colour whereever you want it. There are three shades of this – For Your Amusement, a bright pastel pink, Young At Heart, a bright pink, and Hi Jinks! a bright coral.

Alluring Aquatic is available now, and the packaging is lovely – it looks like it has little water droplets all over the shiny aqua plastic packaging.Eyes are radiant, with subtlety, with olives, seagreens and darkened plums in the Extra Dimension Eye Shadow (£16.50) which comes in six gorgeous shades, the shadow raised into waves. The Luminous Extra Dimension Blush (£20) gives a lovely glow to the skin, the waves carved into this as well. There are five Lipglasses (£15.50), five Lipsticks (£16.50), and two Lip Pencils (£13) in natural shades.

Bronzing Powders (£22) and Extra Dimension Bronzers (£24) add the right amount of summer glow to your skin. This collection is not about tanning – it’s about adding a subtle glow to your skin – enhancing your natural summer glow. Oh, and there are Nail Lacquers (£12) as well – three lovely shades of dark teal chrome, tarnished gold and sparkling aluminium. This collection is brilliantly wearable, and taps effortlessly into the no-makeup-makeup look this summer will be known for!
