Totally tropical with Sisley

sisley eau tropicale fragranceTropical print is a big fashion trend this summer, and it seems Sisley were on the ball when they created their latest fragrance, Eau Tropicale. The French beauty house’s latest scent is a departure for them.

A lighter Eau De Toilette, with a modern, fresh, fruity scent, it will appeal to  a younger market – the Sisley fans of the future perhaps? The fragrance is inspired by the atmosphere of a tropical forest after the storm and rain.

It’s maybe a wee bit too heavy on the floral side for me, but if you love zingy florals, you are going to love this. It has a feminine floral heart with Tuberose, which you can easily detect, along with Violet and Rose.

The zesty Bergamot is prevalent in the top notes, as is the passion fruit, but the Ginger is harder to pick out. Other top notes are frangipani and hibiscus. The dry down is woody, with a soapy element; Ambrette seeds, pure Patchouli and a dry Cedar give it a rich base. Once the scent had settled on my skin it was much less fruity, and I really liked its subtlety.

The bottle is lovely – purple to clear ombre-glass, with a lovely cap designed by Polish artist Bronislaw Krzysztof. The lovely illustrations on the box and the bottle, are credited to artist Christina Radzvill. I love her cute little tropical bird design.
