4 min read

It’s time to scrub up for Spring! That means getting a body exfoliator, and having a good scrub in the shower! There are loads of great exfoliators out there for all budgets, so we’ve whittled the choice down to 10 – here’s our Top Ten Body Exfoliators.

cowshed scrub

1. COWSHED GORGEOUS COW BLISSFUL SHOWER SCRUB, £20, COWSHED.COM

I love Cowshed and their brilliant names. This is their latest body range addition, and it is lovely! Full of amazing ingredients like avocado oil, vitamin E, jojoba beads and coconut fibre, it is a gentle but effective scrub, and smells heavenly!

Mango body shop scrub2. THE BODY SHOP MANGO BODY SCRUB, £12.50, THEBODYSHOP.CO.UK

Fantastically fruity body scrub with real mango oil. I love scrubs that come in tubs that you can just dip your hands in and scoop out as much or as little as you want. Works beautifully on dry skin, isn’t too rough, but you can tell it is working.

heshi scrub

3. HE-SHI EXFOLIATING BODY WASH, £11, HOUSEOFFRASER.CO.UK, HARVEYNICHOLS.COM

From the He-Shi tanning brand, this is specially formulated with fruit AHAs that help dissolve and lift DHA residue from self-tanning products, allowing exfoliating particles to polish away old tan. So, it’s great for use when you are at the end of your fake tan’s life, before you tan again. It has two sizes of particles that work together on the skin, and the moisturisation comes from good old olive oil. For men and women, you can use it all over the body and on the face.

Clinique Sparkle Skin4. CLINIQUE SPARKLE SKIN BODY EXFOLIATING CREAM, £22.50, CLINIQUE.CO.UK

One of my all-time favourite exfoliators and my partner loves it too. Fresh, effective, and scoopable! Contains rounded exfoliating beads and salicylic acid to provide dual exfoliation action. Skin feels amazing after using this.

argan 5 scrub

5. ARGAN+ SKIN RENEWAL BODY SCRUB, £7.99, WAITROSE

This new scrub from the Argan+ range contains crushed olive stones and pumice, combined with a unique combination of five precious African oils – Argan, Baobab, Kukui, Moringa and Sacha Inci. It has a rich, perfumed smell and the exfoliation particles are small. It’s actually a really lovely scrub for the price, and works well. I am a big fan of the hydrating power of Baobab oil, so this is a winner for me.

Sanctuary spa hot scrub

6. SANCTUARY SPA HOT SUGAR SCRUB, £11.35, BOOTS.COM

Apparently Michelle Keegan and Abbey Clancy are fans. And me. And my partner. This.Is.Amazing. It’s my ‘Star Scrub‘ by a country mile. You have to try this to understand how fabulous it is. It heats up! When you apply it to the skin, it warms and invigorates, and oh, it’s just amazing! Thermal Zeolite in the Hot Sugar Scrub helps to open up poreswhile detoxifying Kaolin Clay draws out impurities from deep within the skin. I did end up with little spots all over me – it really does bring out those impurities! Refining organic sugar polishes, and your skin feels fantastic!

Espa scrub

7. ESPA EXFOLIATING BODY POLISH, £32, ESPASKINCARE.COM
This gently exfoliates and nourishes and smoothes. it makes me think of a spa the minute it’s opened! Apricot seed kernels are the exfoliator in this scrub, whilst spearmint cools and aloe vera hydrates and conditions. Skin feels lovely after this luxurious scrub.

M&S lemon scrub8. NATURE’S EXTRACTS SPARKLING LEMON VERBENA EXFOLIATING BODY SCRUB, £3, MARKSANDSPENCER.COM

The lemon verbena scent isn’t as strong as I would like with this scrub, but for the price it’s effective and refreshing. It has quite large exfoliating particles, but they’re not harsh or abrasive, they’re all natural. Lovely on a budget.

Origins scrub

9. ORIGINS MODERN FRICTION FOR THE BODY, £30, ORIGINS.CO.UK

Gorgeous, and gooey and thick! You should really apply this liberally to dry skin before you get in the shower. Wait one minute to allow the ‘gommage’ to form – this means allowing it to dry a little. Then you start to rub it in where you want to exfoliate the most, and dull and discoloured skin will fade away. Then get in the shower, and massage it into a creamy lather, then rinse away. I do  love this, but I find applying and rubbing it in before you get in the shower a little chilly!

No7 body scrub10. No7 TOTAL RENEWAL MICRO-DERMABRASION BODY EXFOLIATOR, £11.50, BOOTS.COM

Alluminium-oxide micro-crystals do the exfoliating here, or rather the micro-dermabrasion. This gives great results, but don’t use it on sensitive areas, like the face, neck, bust or on sore, sun-damaged skin. It works on dry, rough skin to make it feel much smoother. Use a few times a week, and in four weeks they guarantee you results!
