Pretty Perfumes for Mum!
It’s Mother’s Day at the end of the month – don’t forget. Put March 30 in your diary now! I reckon as long as you remember, and go and see your mum, she won’t mind what you turn up with (just don’t go empty handed, remember a card at least!). But a bottle of perfume always goes down well, so here are five of my recent favourites for you to choose from.

This new version of Happy in Bloom is just super fresh and floral. Yellow plum, a cocktail of frozen fruit and waterry green notes open this scent up, lily of the valley, white freesia and a mimosa accord from the original Happy give it the floral touch, and transparent amber and white wood give it a feminine depth. The lovely bottle is adorned with pastel flowers. What’s not to love? Perfect spring scent for mum.

Britney’s brought out two new remixes of her original Fantasy fragrance. So, be careful with this one – is your mum naughty or nice!? The Naughty fragrance is a sensual oriental with jasmine, white chocolate orchid and cupcake at the heart, and highlights the creamy musk from original Fantasy on the dry down. The Nice remix is fruity and floral, highlighting the kiwi notes from the original Fantasy , with that cupcake heart again. And there’s a necklace you can take off the bottle and wear. Extra good if your mum’s name begins with N. Nora, Nelly, Nina, Nena, Nicola…you get the idea.

Launched last year, the first new Lauder fragrance for a long time, this is a top seller. And no wonder – it’s a gorgeous, wearable scent, with a sparkling jasmine accord, mandarin and honeysuckle nectar, dewy petals, tuberose and fresh lily making it bright and fresh. Two Patchouli essences, Madagascar Vanilla, rich Amber Wood and soft Musk make the dry down rich and warm.

Oh,mum will love you for this one. Satine is a beautiful perfume. A woody oriental fragrance composed by Nathalie Lorson who chose to explore the smooth sensuality of white tonaka bean. To depict Satine, the perfumer has created fragrant spheres that merge with each other.
A first sphere highlights floral sensuality with a luminous bouquet of white flowers- jasmine petals, gardenia and heliotrope. A second textured and balmy sphere has the gourmand notes of tonka bean and vanilla, set off with pink pepper.
Finally, a third sphere has highly contrasting woody notes – earthy vetiver and patchouli, set against creamy sandalwood. The bottle is stunning, inspiration for it take from “La Perle Noire”, a bottle created by René Lalique in 1924. Will look stunning on mum’s dressing table.

I love this bottle, inspired by a brilliant crystal gemstone, inspired by the marquise cut. This cut took its name from the Marquise de Pompadour. In the 18th Century King Louis XIV expressed his love for the Marquise by having a stone cut to resemble her lips! I also love that you can get a 90ml refillable version. The perfume itself is an energising blend using the signature notes of the original Alien, with added Neroli, Bergamot tea, Tiere flower, Cashmeran wood, White Amber and heliotrope. It is lovely, and fresh and uplifting.
