Fake You're Awake! Beat the lost hour!

2 min read

The clocks ‘spring forward’ this Saturday night, meaning we lose an hour’s sleep. Yes, we know, it heralds the start of British Summer Time and those light nights, but, well, did we mention … we LOSE an hour’s sleep!

This is not good. We need all the beauty sleep  we can get it. But, if we have to lose an hour, then fine – we’ve got it covered (literally, when there’s concealer involved) with our ‘Fake You’re Awake’ beauty guide. This little round-up of products will mean that come Sunday you will look fresh as a daisy, wide awake, and like you’ve had a full eight hours or more!

Concealing is a good idea. You can use an old-fashioned concealer cream like Seventeen’s Phwoarr Paint (£5.49, boots.com), or BeneFit’s fantastic Boi-ing (£17.50, benefitcosmetics.co.uk) to get a bit of good old fashioned cover up going on, or you could try an under eye highlighter to reflect the light, and make those under-eye circles magically disappear. Try Clinique’s Airbush Concealer (£18, clinique.co.uk) which hides shadows and illuminates, or Autograph’s Illuminating Touch (£9.50, marksandspencer.com) which targets dark cirles, puffy eyes and fine lines.

Before you go to bed on Saturday – and every night for that matter – you really should use a night treatment of some sort. I love Estee Lauder’s cult, award-winning, product, Advanced Night Repair (from £48, esteelauder.co.uk). It works on your skin as you sleep and is a musthave in my bedtime beauty routine. It really has made a difference to my skin. I’ve used it for over a year, constantly, and won’t be without it now.

.Another favourite is Clinique’s Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (£29, clinique.co.uk). Its penetrating formula replenishes skin with soothing, nourishing moisture. You don’t rinse it off, you just apply a layer and let it sink in as you sleep, and you awaken with soft, smooth, supple skin. You can apply this over the Estee Lauder ANR, which is a serum.

The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (£15) combines the power of a serum with the indulgence of an oil. Its not sticky, or greasy, it’s lovely, and it works to replenish and recharge your skin whilst you sleep! When you get up on Sunday, make sure you apply some Botanics Triple Age Renewal Hydrating Eye Serum (£9.49, boots.com). It contains all the botanical goodness of the Triple Age range – including purple orchid, as well as hyaluronic acid, and it has two added ingredients – Eyeliss, a complex perfect for reducing puffy bags first thing in the morning, by improving drainage, reducing capillary fagiclity and irritation and Haloxyl, which tackles those dark circles!

Finally, when you do want some shut eye, and the nights are lighter, make sure you have this amazing Blackout Eye Mask from Marks and Spencer. It’s just £5, and is light and comfortable to wear!

With these products you will look fresh as a daisy on Sunday, and ready to face the summer head on!
