Bobbi Brown cover all the bases
I love Bobbi Brown bases. They’re just really good. And they come in a great range of shades for all skintones. So, I was quite excited when I got my hands on two of their newest face products – the CC Cream and the Skin Foundation Stick.
The CC Cream, launched this month, comes in three shades – Pale Nude, Warm Nude and Golden Nude. These shades correspond to a group of shades in Bobbi’s makeup you would normally be. So, Pale Nude covers Alabaster to Cool Beige, Warm Nude covers Warm Beige to Warm Honey and Golden Nude covers Golden to Walnut.
The CC Cream SPF35, is designed to be used with foundation, to help achieve a perfect complexion. It’s a skincare hybrid, containing loads of ingredients doing all sorts of things for the skin. Soft Focus Powders enhance the skin’s own luminosity and diffuses light to reduce the appearance of imperfections.
A brightening blend of Cucumber, Apple and Scutelleria extracts work to brighten the complexion and even the skin tone. Liquorice, Caffeine and Sucrose help calm and comfort the skin, whilst Sodium Hyaluronate attracts and binds moisture to the skin, instantly pluming, smoothing and refreshing it. A moisture complex of Trehalose and Glycerin help maintain skin’s moisture balance and prevent dehydration.
It also contains Barley and Wheat Germ Extract to help replenish essential lipids, and Cholesterol, a lipid found naturally in the skin, helps to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier to prevent moisture from escaping. And of course there is the SPF35.
It is interesting, this CC Cream, as it is being recommended as a pre-foundation step, when many CC Creams are used instead of foundation. I do think this works best when foundation is applied on top. You can see the luminosity in your skin instantly.
Now, what better foundation to use on top, than the latest Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick, though you will have to wait until April for launch. It’s basically Skin foundation in stick-form, and I am absolutely in love with it! This is an update on Bobbi’s iconic Foundation Stick which launched in 1992.
It contains all sorts of great ingredients for moisturising, anti-ageing benefits, and long-wear and oil-control. It gives excellent coverage, and is brilliant for using on the go. Sometimes a concealer touch-up is not enough – this is where this comes in.
I find it brilliant on a night out, when I get those flushed red cheeks and sometimes chin(!) through alcohol, for just touching up the foundation and bringing the flush down. It’s creamy consistency is excellent to use, and it comes in an amazing 24 skintone correct shades, including four new shades – Cool Sand, Golden Natural, Golden Honey and Golden Almond.
