Nicole Richie's got Lilac Hair?!

2 min read

Pastel is  big fashion trend this spring summer, and a huge hair trend at the moment as well. It’s like wandering around a My Little Pony Convention when you stumble upon a group of pastelheads, as I like to call them. Once shocking, lilac, pale pink, mint green and pastel blue hair now seems, well, relatively normal!

My Little Pony pastel hair

So, it was with a half-interested shrug of the shoulders that I acknowledged the latest celeb to the trend – Nicole Richie. And then I looked again and, well, she looks amazing with this shade of lilac! Move over Kelly Osbourne! Nicole is my favourite pastelhead of the moment. But then, whats that? She didn’t really do it!? Boo! It’s all Photoshop – check out this story on E! Online

Nicole showed off her locks on Instagram (where else?!), and if you really want to copy her, well, actually do it, not just Photoshop it, there are a few ways you can.

Being a blonde to start with it always a good idea. Going to your hair salon is also a very good idea. But if you want to give it a go, then maybe try FUDGE URBAN Colour Chalk in Pumped Up Purple (£5.99, superdrug.com). Hair chalks are a great way to see if you like a colour, add a bit to the ends, a few stripes, etc. I’ve tried them, and they can be quite hard to work with but they’re a fun quick fix.

Lilac hair trend

When my hair was platinum blonde – before this pastelhead trend erupted, I used to tone it and tone it to get the yellowness out of it, and if you did it enough, it added a subtle lilac hint. To do this, you could use Fudge Whiter Shade of Pale toner (£9.25, fudge.com). If you really want to go for lilac or purple, use Fudge Paintbox in  Blueberry Hill (£11.25). This is purple – you can go for purple for a few weeks, and then achieve the lilac as it fades, or you can try diluting the dye down with conditioner, to get a lighter shade.
