Jo Malone London Rain

Jo Malone London launch their London Rain collection in March – perhaps a wee bit late, considering the weather the south of England has had earlier this month! No one might want reminding of the awful rain and floods.

But, this lovely Limited Edition collection, by master perfumer Christine Nagel aims to capture the different moods of rain – from the soft sparkle of a morning shower through to a wild rainstorm at night. Rain is pretty mesmerising, if you think about it, and there is something refreshing about strolling in the rain.

“The initial concept from Jo Malone London was to create a scented portrait of London to conjure up the romantic and deeply intense rainy days,” says Christine Nagel. “Imagine the soft, bewitching scent of a light rain glistening over a wisteria tree that has wound itself around a stony wall or the sensual aroma of pathways carpeted in moss awash with thunderous rain.”

Sounds almost glamorous! So, Christine came up with four fragrances that said ‘London Rain’ to her.

There’s Rain & Angelica, with top notes of, ahem, rain, a heart of Angelica, and a base of Vetiver. It’s a herby and clear scent, and works well combined with Lime Basil & Mandarin. Jo Malone loves a bit of fragrance combining.

Wisteria & Violet represents a soft morning shower, with a top not of Water Lily, a heart of Wisteria, and a base of Patchouli. It’s a sensual blooming floral, and can be combined with Peony & Blush Suede.

White Jasmine & Mint represents the scent after an afternoon cloudbursts – it’s a very fresh and interesting scent. A top note of Fresh Mint Leaf combines with a heart of Heirloom Jasmine, and a base of Mate Leaf, for a natural scent. Combine with Earl Grey & Cucumber.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper is midnight rain. It’s seductive and humid, modern and urban. Top note is Cumin, the heart is Juniper, and Black Cedarwood is the base. Mix it with Pomegranate Noir for a deeply seductive scent.
