Lip Crayons: Revlon, Superdrug and Sisley
Clinique certainly started something with their iconic Chubby Stick. The moisturising lip balm crayon, and it’s later, intense, version, have been a HUGE hit for the beauty brand. So, it’s no surprise that others have followed suit.
This year so far, I’ve been looking at three new such lip crayons, from Revlon, B at Superdrug, and Sisley.
The B from Superdrug version is the B.Vibrant Lip & Cheek Colour (£7.99, superdrug.com) – so it’s a little bit different. It’s cruelty-free and vegan, and is a chubby-ish format, with a twist-up action. It comes in five shades, and it does add a fair bit of colour, to lips and cheeks. It’s a decent multi-tasker for teens, or a beach holiday.
Revlon have gone HUGE on their Colorburst crayons, which are also £7.99 each (boots.com). They have three variations – Balm Stains, Lacquer Balms, and Matte Balms. The Stains come in six shades, with a light stain of colour, the Lacquer version comes in ten shades, and gives a more glossy, pigmented finish, and the Matte version is, well, obviously, matte, and comes in ten colours as well.
The Matte version contains Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter, so as not to be too drying on the lips. The glorious Emma Stone shows us how to wear each version!
And then it’s the turn of Sisley. I’ve been using the lovely new Phyto Lip Twist Tinted Balm (out February, sisley-paris.com) in the red, number 6 shade, this week, and it is lovely. It gives a good shot of colour, is intensely moisturising, and it lasted all the way round my three mile run the other night! The colour is buildable – so you can have a sheer slick, or build it up for a glossy extra-pigmented look. I also tried mine on top of a full lip of lipliner, and it looked brilliant.
The Sisley version comes in the coolest zebra print packaging – what’s not to love. They are a little bit more expensive, at £28 each.
These are just three of a whole host of crayon lip products now available. What’s your favourite? Or are you a Clinique Chubby faithful fan?!
