Astalift Light Analyzing Foundation

Astalift light analyzing foundationWhen I first heard of the Astalift brand, and that it was owned by Fujifilm, I did find it a little odd. Why would Fujifilm have a cosmetics arm? But they used four basic film-related technologies to develop Astalift-  collagen research, light analysis and control, antioxidation, and original nanotechnology.

And now their new Light Analyzing Moisture Foundation SP25 (£29) uses their heritage in light and colour, with scientific beauty formulas, to create a foundation that, they say, adapts to your skin, dending on the time of day. Created to recognise and reflect colour by warming up skin tones, delivering a smooth, natural complexion, regardless of time of day, light intensity or angle. I am not entirely sure if this actually does work, and I am also not really going to try and explain the science part either.

It is quite a simple idea really. Colour originates in light and can be perceived differently depending on the subject, light and individual perception of colour. Although it may appear colourless, sunlight is made up of a broad colour spectrum that travels from the sun, to the object (skin) before being detected by the human eye.
When light hits an object or surface it both absorbs and reflects coloured light rays and this is what the human eye detects Working with your skin this foundation then tackles the daily challenges created by ever changing subtleties of light – taking us from morning, midday to nighttime in one expert application That’s what Astalift say. I am not sure if this happened, as I didn’t spend all day looking at my skin in different lights when wearing the foundation.

Unfortunately I found it a little too heavy on the coverage for my liking, and, even more unfortunately, it sat in my pores on my nose and cheeks, which is never a good look. I do like Astalift’s Jelly Aquarysta serum which you can stick a finger into, take some out, and the jelly will pop back into form again. They are an innovative and interesting brand and the work that goes into the product development is undeniable. But I am not sure I’ll be using this one again, unfortunately.

However, you may love it, so if you want to try it, visit astalift.co.uk for more info. The range is also available at  Debenhams and  selected Boots nationwide.
