GO BEARFACED FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

3 min read

Are you ready to go BearFaced for Children in Need this Friday (Nov 8)? I am! Here I am with no make up on. Not a pretty sight, perhaps, but I am joining a host of celebrities who are going bare-faced – or ‘BearFaced’, for this year’s Children in Need campaign.

BEARFACED FOR CHILDREN IN NEED MERLE

Actresses Michelle Dockery and Jodie Whittaker, Newsreader Fiona Bruce, Radio DJ Vanessa Feltz, singer Rachel Stevens and Olympian Denise Lewis are the latest celebrities to be announced as supporters of this year’s BearFaced campaign for BBC Children in Need.

The six have come together with loads of other celebs ready to ditch the makeup and go BearFaced.

They join Laura Whitmore, Arlene Philips, Alex Jones, Sheridan Smith, Kimberley Walsh, Suki Waterhouse and Jo Wood, and have all had a lovely ‘bearfaced’ picture taken by none other than Rankin. Not sure mine looks quite as good as these!

Bear faced for Children in need

Going BearFaced is a simple way to raise money for BBC Children in Need. Women can either participate alone or set up a Bearfaced team with friends, family and colleagues to make the day more fun.

Find out more at bbc.co.uk/pudsey and prepare a sponsorship page at mydonate.bt.com/events/gobearfaced.

Boots are supporting the BearFaced campaign, where a Pudsey paw print replaces your normal makeup, but dontaging 5p from every £1 spent on their No7 skincare products. The paw prints are available at Post Offices now.

“Ladies, discard your mascara and join me and all our women in going BearFaced for the day – it’s such a simple way to get involved with raising money for Children in Need,” said Michelle Dockery, Downton’s Lady Mary.

Michelle looks absolutely stunning with not a scrap of makeup on, and if you want to look the best you can whilst BearFaced, follow these tips from Boots No7 Consultant, Samantha Catt.

The key to looking great ‘BearFaced’ is in your skincare routine.

CLEANSE

Always start your skincare routines with a splash of warm water or No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser (£9.95) to open your pores. This allows your cleanser to clean impurities from deep within the skin and leaves it feeling squeaky clean.

EXFOLIATE

Exfoliating helps to gently remove dead skin cells to reveal your glowing complexion underneath. This helps skin to look refreshed, rejuvenated and healthy, even without the addition of makeup. Do it twice a week with perhaps the No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush (£15), or a  grainy facial scrub or No7 Youthful Glycolic Peel Kit (£24.95).

HYDRATE

For even better anti-ageing results, pair a serum with a moisturiser. Make sure it has a 5* UVA rating as well as sun protection factor (SPF) to protect your delicate skin from the UN.  Try No7 Protect and Perfect Intense range (£43).

EYES

For a fresh-faced, bright-eyed effect, apply an eye cream after your moisturiser. This helps to smooth any fine lines and keep your under eye skin hydrated. What’s best, a little goes a long way

 ILLUMINATE

Add some ready-made radiance to your complexion with an instant skin fixer. Light reflecting particles will make your skin appear immediately brighter and fresher. Try No7 Instant Radiance Beauty Balm (£17) over the cheeks to lift your complexion.

 PRIMER

A solid base is key to any flawless look but essential when going “bear”. If your skin is oily the No7 Beautifully Matte Makeup Base (£10.50) will combat shine or try No7 Airbrush Away Primer (£19.50) which gives the illusion of smooth, even skin.

Children in Need is on BBC on Friday November 15
