Tom Ford Summer Bronzing Collection

I’m a red lipstick and pale skin kinda gal, so when I was offered the chance to have a makeover with the new Tom Ford Summer Bronzing Collection, initially, I was thinking ‘this is not for me’. However, with a wee bit of a sun-kissed glow from a recent holiday abroad (and very sun-faded hair!), I decided to give it a go. And, wow. I love it! Even the neutral/pink lip!

This gorgeous Limited Edition Collection captures, according to Tom Ford  ‘the luminous and sensuous effect of bronzed skin‘.  I have never really captured that effect on my pale skin ever, so I was intrigued – and delighted with the results. The collection includes the new Tom Ford Skin Illuminator (£46), the Tom Ford Illuminating Cheek Color (£48), and a harmony of shimmery and sheer shades for the eyes, lips and nails.

“I wanted to capture a very particular look of skin that is bathed in sunset light in the summer,” says Tom Ford. “It is a sultry and sublime glow. In this light, every woman looks irresistibly relaxed and sensual.” He certainly says all the right things, Mr Ford, doesn’t he?!

So, the lovely Joanne at the Tom Ford Private Blend counter in Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh, started with the new Tom Ford Skin Illuminator, to prime my skin, before using Traceless Foundation (£60), in shade 03 Fawn – not the palest shade for once!

She used the Naked Bisque highlighting pen (£40) under my eyes, and some Illuminating Powder to finish. For the eyes, she used the two new Cream Colour for Eyes (£28) shades from this new collection – Escapade and Pink Haze – and I think they look stunning on.

Joanne also used Shadow 2 from the Coco Mirage Palette (£62) to add a bit of definition, and the Eye Defining Pencil in Metallic Mink (£25), and Extreme Mascara in Raven (£32) – which is just the most lovely mascara. My brows were defined with the fantastic Brow Sculptor (£32, comes in four shades) – this tool is brilliant, trust me!

Joanne used a Gold Dust Bronzer to add warmth, and Love Lust Cheek Color Blusher (£45). The two new Illuminating Cheek Colors are in shades of Blush Guilt and Bronzed Amber.

Finally, the lips – and no red Tom Ford Cherry Lush, or even Willful Lip Shine here! Joanne chose Lip Color Spanish Pink (£36), and topped it with the new Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust (£25), which gave a shimmery, summery, gorgeous glow. I absolutely love it!

I can’t say I will be ditching the red for good, but what is it my mum always says – ‘a change is as good as a rest’!  Tom Ford makeup is a premium brand, and the makeup feels absolutely beautiful on your skin.You really will notice a difference from your usual brands.
