Estee Lauder DayWear UV Defense SPF50

Sometimes there are beauty products launched that confuse me slightly. This is one of those. Estee Lauder’s DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant UV Defense SPF 50 is, well, what is it?!

It’s the last step in skincare before makeup. A primer, then, perhaps? Well, not really. Sort of. See?

It has an SPF50, so it’s a primer with extra benefits, I suppose. Whatever it is, it smells amazing, as all DayWear products do, with that light, fresh, cucumber scent.

It’s firmly in the anti-ageing category for me – but that doesn’t mean anti-ageing can’t start at any age.

Protect your skin from the UVA ageing rays of the sun at all times.

The ‘protection’ in the name is key – this is the last line of defence for you skin – and you can wear it alone, after moisturiser, or under makeup.

It has the anti-oxidant properties of all Day Wear products, and if you are a fan of this Lauder range, then this will be for you. I’ve tried it under foundation, and it does provide a smooth base, like a primer, for application.

I love serums, so I tried this over two of my favourite serums, instead of moisturiser, and it worked pretty well, even on my dry skin. I was really impressed, and happy in the knowledge my skin was being protected.

So, despite the confusion, this is definitely one I am adding to my skincare routine – in fact, I might even be changing my routine to fit it in!
