Serum for Eyes

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine the beauty boffins coming up with a new product, when you see all the launches every year. And then they come up with something so simple, so obvious, you immediately think ‘of course’!

Which is exactly what I did when two new eye SERUMS landed on my desk. Eye creams, eye gels, and now eye serums. The next step in anti-ageing for the part of our face that ages earliest and quickest in many cases. It makes perfect sense – we use face creams and eye creams, so why not face serums and eye serums?

First up is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion (£45, esteelauder.co.uk), a new addition to the hugely successful Advanced Night Repair line. You can use this AM as well as PM. It contains hyaluronic acid, and lots of anti-oxidants and helps with all age concerns in the eye area – fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles and dryness. This serum feels lovely, and has a slight illuminating look once applied. It’s for all skin types, and if Advanced Night Repair is popular, then watch this fly off the shelves too.

Eye Serum

Next up is Darphin’s Uplifting Serum Eyelid Definition (£45, darphin.co.uk). Again, you use this twice daily – morning and night – and in a particular way. Start by pressing delicately around the eye contour using light pressure from fingertips. Follow with a skin stimulation using your fingertips – tapping lightly over the eye contour and finally, optimise the application by repeating the first step again. The serum itself has a triple anti-ageing action to provide an immediate tightening effect – you do really feel this, so be prepared for it! Being Darphin, it of course contains essential oil. It has a gorgeous floral scent and is a clear serum, with a non-sticky formula.

So, if you want to add another product to your skincare routine -and why not , I say – then invest in an eye serum to use under your eye cream.
