Aveda's Art of Nature

2 min read

Aveda are not a brand I immediately think of when I think make-up – but they do it, and the new Art of Nature SS13 collection is lovely. It’s bold and bright, with key on-trend colours – the bright green eyeliner almost perfectly Emerald – the Pantone colour of the year for 2013, remember?

The collection, of course, in keeping with the ethos of Aveda, takes it’s inspiration from nature. So think berry-drenched lips, and forest green eyes. There are two Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Colors (£12) – in Cana and Melochia Bloom – a bold red and an on-trend coral. They have the cooling mint taste, which I am still not 100% sold on. But the coverage and pigment is excellent.

The two Petal Essence Eye Definers (£13.50) are just lovely – made from jasmine petals and geranium leaves and aromatic flower waxes, they are creamy, blendable and smooth. The pigments are intense – the limited-edition shades are Jade Vine – that fabulous green, and Wild Indigo. The Petal Essence Single Eye Colors (£11.50) are again created with those gorgeous floral extracts, and the colour palette for this collection is from pretty neutrals, to greens, a real taste of nature.

There is also a fabulous Petal Essence Face Accent (£21) – free of parabens, talc and mineral-oil, this lovely trio of colours is great for adding colour and definition to the face, wherever you want it, with perfect blush, bronze and luminising effects.

The Aveda Art of Nature Makeup Collection is available in Aveda salons, and at aveda.co.uk, from April
