pureDKNY's Drop of Rose
I love rose. If you read this blog regularly you will know that. So, when new rose fragrance came through my door earlier this month, it fairly brightened up my January!
pureDKNY will release A Drop of Rose in February, and if you like rose fragrances, then drop some huge Valentine hints for this, or treat yourself! I was quite intrigued by the story of how the fragrance was made, so let me share the bones of it with you…
The rich soil, rain and sunshine of the Isparta valley in Turkey helps create the perfect rose. In the Anatolian flower fields, the delicate pink blossoms of the rose damascene variety are harvested in early summer. Each year in June, every flower is hand-picked, one by one, in the cool, pre-dawn hours. By the season’s end, 2500 tons of petals have been bagged, weighed and transported by truck to the distillery where they are gently rolled and processed through 26 stills. The end product is essential oil of rose, a potent raw material that is later incorporated into the fragrance,
pureDKNY believe in sustainability, and are in partnership with CARE – a leading humanitarian organisation to help lift women out of global poverty. By purchasing its rose from local farmers in Turkey, the majority of whom are women, pureDKNY has taken a step to secure long-term rose production in Isparta.
The sustainability continues with the packaging – 100% recyclable glass and aluminium components, a bio-degradable carton made in facilities powered by renewable energy using materials sources in managed forests, outer cartons printed with low-VOC inks, and the outer wrap is NatureFlex, made from cellulose and not petro-chemicals.
The perfume itself is a true, fresh, beautiful rose scent.
