Get the Aerin Lauder life...

Who is Aerin Lauder, I hear you ask? Well, she’s a New York society fixture, 42-year-old mother, and heiress to the Estee Lauder empire. She’s Estee’s granddaughter, and her new line for the company is just part of the Aerin Lauder lifestyle you can buy into, if you so wish.

Aerin is blonde, beautiful and perfectly groomed. Her cosmetics line is pretty, inspired by her love of flowers, and classic and neutral. Earlier this month, the line was shown to beauty press in Scotland, at a lovely dinner at the newly revamped Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh. In a room scented with Aerin’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia scent, and decorated with her favourite pink roses and peonies in neat little bouquets, it was a serene, calm and perfectly Aerin setting.

Despite being on a self-imposed booze ban for January, I still managed to be inappropriate and a little naughty. When being told of Aerin’s range not just being cosmetics, but shoes, jewellery, sunglasses, furniture, lighting and homeware, and how it was all about ‘buying into the Aerin Lauder lifestyle’, I piped up “A bit like Katie Price…’

Well, come on – some people have bought into the whole Katie Price lifestyle have they not? Personally I probably wouldn’t buy into either, but whilst Katie Price’s bling is not for me, there are bits of Aerin Lauder’s pretty, pared down range, I could live with. (I had a peek at some of her homeware in a Wall Street Journal feature, and it’s very pretty).

The cosmetics were launched in the UK in London mainly last Autumn, with her Essentials line. This comprises Aerin’s ‘must-have’ beauty items – A Fresh Skin Compact Makeup in six shades (£37), Pretty Bronze Illuminating Powder in two shades (£34), Rose Lip Conditioner in Nude (£20), Rose Hand and Body Cream (£36), Brush Essentials collection (£120, five brushes in a bag), and Essential Make Up Bag (£38). The packaging is pretty, everything has a delicate rose scent, and it’s all very wearable and useable.

For Spring, the Color Collection  – A Garden in Bloom – is Limited Edition, and has some lovely pieces. There are two Spring Style Palettes (£45) – A Garden in Bloom, and A Garden at Dusk – each contains three eyeshadows and one blush, beautifully embossed. The Floral Illuminating Powder (£45) is very useable, as is the Multi Color for Lips & Cheeks (£30), available in two shades. The collection also includes Lipstick (£24) in three shades, and Lipgloss (£22), also in three shades.

If you fancy a bit of the Aerin Lauder look, then the collection will be available from selected John Lewis stores, from February 4, and  also online at esteelauder.co.uk/AerinBeauty
